I've been searching for clues and answers but don't seem t find something similar to this noise on the Forums. My GFs 2008 TL-S Automatic makes a whirling noise and what sounds to be a bad bearing noise that comes and goes during idle. It gets louder as the car accelerates. Drive belt tensioner?

 

Remove belt start car and see if noise has disapeared.

 

i had the same problem just got it fixed this past week it should be your belt i got a kit with belt and new tensioner's its abit cheaper when you go with the belt kits

 

^Agreed. Sometimes you can even see the tensioner pulley wobble side to side indicating worn bearings.
