I just bought an 06 Acura TL...the person i bought it from lost the keyless entry remote so I have to manually open the door with the key. I went to get into my car and the doors won't unlock. When i turn the key the lock goes up slightly and the flashing security light stops blinking but the doors won't open and the key doesn't exactly turn all the way...does any one have any idea what this might be?

 

Anyone?

 

does the key turn in the lock itself? if it does and the door lock isn't moving then it's a good possibility that the door lock mechanism has unhooked or has broken somehow; here's the diagram of the lock and the link to all the parts:

If you can't get inside the car, I suggest calling a locksmith who can unlock the lock for you and then also I suggest you head over to the dealer and buy a new remote for 35 dollars. You can find them much cheaper on ebay as well. The programming instructions for the remote are in the 3G Service Dept. Section of Acurazine.

 

Thanks for your reply...The lock won't even turn all the way to open...but its strange because it started working again....i called the dealer and they said they won't know whats wrong unless it happens again and they see it....How the heck r they supposed to see it if i can't get in the car lol i need to learn more about cars in general....since I've gotten the car it has done it twice...im not sure why though...does any1 know?

 

^like csmeance said, you're going to have to open up the door panel to check the inner workings to see if everything is working properly.

 

I wouldn't even know where to start if I wanted to open up the door panel...but is it something I need to take to the Acura Dealer or is this something any mechanic shop can check out.

 

Any reputable mechanic should understand the components of the door lock system and let you know if something is wrong. Personally, I would go and get some new remotes programmed, I take keyless entry for granted I guess. Good luck!
