HELP!! Ballast is out!!
Hey I've been reading up a lot on here about potential ballast replacement/ gone out.
1. Noticed one of my lights were out; replaced the bulb's with new ones didn't fix it.
2. swap each side of the ballast layout; confirmed one is out...what threw me off was first I discovered that it kept blowing my fuse (15A) and I couldn't figure out why????
I didn't know if this is 100% the ballast and/or ignitor (I didn't try different ignitors just move the ballast from one to the other..but if it didn't work on the one working assuming it's that)
My other question is if I bought the 06+ TL version and replaced it with that one will there be different output or am I better off buying 2 06+ ballast???

Same thing happened to me. It's funny because theyre like 3-4 threads of the HID not working. My problem was the ignitor, it was burning the side of the bulb and causing it to burn the plastic. So I ordered and new ignitor and so far the bulbs are normal. But my mechanic said that he thinks the ignitor burned the bulb because of not getting enough ground? Idk but I never mess with my battery or electrical system. GL to you!
well from what i been reading, the 06 ballasts works but they say it doesnt mount up as good as the 04 and 05 ones. so i would go with the 04 and 05. the answer tour other question is idk i too am having hid issues so i was only able to answer one of ur question not the other... my issue is my low beams works fine but my driver high beam isnt working whenevver i turn it on my driver high beam fuse pops. but low work fine. puzzling the crap otta me... i would probably check the ground on the side that not working. to see if it would be a bad ground that causing that 15amp fuse to pop.. or it might just be the ballast. at least u can narrow it down to 2 either ballast or ignitor not that any one of them is cheaper there both expensive... only other advice i can say is switch the ignitor. than if the other side stop working than for sure u know what the issue is.
s2000gtx..that's sounds weird..only thing comes to mind is I noticed a high and low beam fuse ..I would try that.
I went ahead and ordered a ballast and ignitor hopefully it comes in tomorrow and I can try to mount it..granted I own an 04 ..but the headlights were off an 06 that have been blacked out and cleared..so it was already a pain to mount.

its not the fuse. i replace the blown fuse and i try to turn on the high beam and that same fuse pops again. but low beam works fine. and its only the driver high beam that not working and given the issue. the passenger side works fine.
