Heavy vibration even after changing all three motor mounts??

Hey guys, so here is my issue. My girl has a 05 TL 6 speed. She was getting a heaving vibration when putting in reverse and then starting to move. So I checked the motor mounts and noticed the side one was shot and the front was leaking. So I ordered the xlr8 motor mounts and I installed them. The problem seems to still exist. .????. So what do you think the next step would be? Engine damper and tranny mounts? I have the same mounts on my 04 TL 6 speed and no issues. Any info from you guys would be great. Thank you

I have AT
Mine had that on "R"
I was thinking of tranny mount but getting XLR8 engine mounts fixed it
Gave me a vibration like hell at idle but...

I say take out the intake and check the tranny mount IF it only happens on reverse

oh of course first try brake/gas
may be new mounts are loose

I did some more looking under the hood and found out that the engine damper is very loose. As if its not even there. Also I looked at the top tranny mount and it does have some cracks. So I am just gonna order a new engine damper and new tranny mounts.

Ive been having an issue with a vibration also. I notice it more at idle in gear. I have a Type S w/AT. I have not really had time to attempt to find it tho.

Sounds similar to my experience. Had a vibration only in gear w/the AC on. Changed all three engine mounts only to find I had a bad coil pack. The 'miss' was only at idle with a load on the engine.

Did you seal your vac lines after puting in the xlr8 mounts? That might be your problem, it was for me.

If these are urethane mounts you're certainly not going to solve a vibration problem with them even if the stock mounts are in bad shape.

Urethane mounts are harder than rubber and allow more vibration through.

coil packs are those black plastic boxes that fit over the spark plug. There are 6 of them, one for each plug/cylinder.

Vac lines? What are those?
So you have xlr8 ones on your car and no vibration?
Because I still have a vibration, not crazy on normal days but too much when it rains outside.

How does bad coils give vibration to the car at idle?
You changed the mounts with oem or xlr8?

Vibrations were pretty minor...slight blip on the tachometer. Looking back at it...could probably describe it as a slight 'miss' of the engine.

Went with OEM mounts...I'm interested in comfort more than performance.

Try neutralizing the mounts, they could be binding and causing issues.

Automatic cars got an additional vibration damper mounted to the front bumper. Manuals got the torque damper. Are both TLs autos or manuals? Autos in general will have more vibration at idle in gear due to the load of the torque converter. An auto and manual should have about the same vibration level in neutral or park.

They are the lines that are connected to the front and rear oem motor mounts...Yes I have the xlr8 mounts on both tls and I completely removed the vaccumm lines on both cars and plugged the main line on both...I have very light vibration on my tl but on my girls tl, its deff noticeable a lot more.

Both TLs are manual. On my TL, I already replaces my three tranny mounts and engine damper. Maybe that's why I don't feel as much as my girls TL. I received the 3 tranny mounts and engine damper for her TL. Im just waiting for this weather to kinda brighten up so I can change everything. So hopefully once I change everything out, it should be ok...I will update when im done..Thank you..

Im having same issue. Bluetl04, did you happen to solve the issue? I may try a new coilpack, as it is only noticable at idle.

hey all

So here we go ,I too after replacing all my mounts and tranny mounts ,coil packs ,spark plugs, egg value, pcv value list goes on . Still have vibration at idle .
Car for the most part runs really good . Leak down and compression test done . I'm at a total loss for what the heck is causing this .
One mechanic at the dealership said it could very well be the damping solenoid value witch controls the vacuum . Got the diagnosis steps from dealership now just need to test. Anyone done this ?

Rear engine mount is usually the culprit, are you using OEM mounts? If not, I would replace the rear one with an OEM mount..

yes all mounts that I have done too date are Honda

The rear mount is the shock absorption looking one correct, if so yes this one has not been done.

When I'm driving on the hey speed ,there is a noticeable vibration up front .

Try replacing the rear one and see if that fixes the issue.

Have you done the transmission mounts? There are three engine mounts on all 3G TLs, and an additional three transmission mounts for cars with manual transmissions.

What kind of shape are your axles in?

Up until last May my axles looked the same as yours, but vibration occurred during all phases of driving; I had them replaced with a set of new Duralast axles; now I only get vibration upon acceleration; once my speed stabilizes the vibrations go away. I'm thinking to order a set of OEM axles soon and have those swapped in; I hate the vibrations.

Long story short, just because the boots are in good shape, that in no way means the CV joints aren't sloppy inside.
