Heater Not Working
Now that Fall is here, i've been trying to warm up the car a bit for the chilluns (children) in the morning. No matter what mode, temp setting i use (a/c off) i continue to get cold air. I have read and re-read the manual to make sure that i am selecting the proper settings. I have also tried to search the archives for similar probelms and fixes. No dice. Has anyone else experinced this? I think i need to just schedule an appointment and get it looked at because something isnt working correctly.
Any and all input is appreciated. Thanks.

Yea something's not right. You should be able to just increase the temperature and it will get hotter.
Forgive the dumb question, but you did not clarify in your post. Is the car at operating temperature when you put the heat on? It won't get hot until the car has warmed up. Heat in automobiles is produced by air blowing across a heater core, which is like a small radiator where coolant passes through. There is no heating element that produces hot air, like that in a hair dryer. If your car has not warmed up, the antifreeze that passes through the heater core will be cold, and the air that blows across it will be cold (ambient temperature) too.
If this is not the case, you should take it in to get looked at. There may be a problem with the blend door mechanism or the circuit that powers it.
Good luck!

put it on HI on your temp with auto and see if you can feel it blowing out warm air in the foot-wells.

Then it has got to be the blend door. This is a "flap" that swings between two ducts to either let cold air from the evaporator core, or hot air from the heater core pass through. As you move the temperature, this flap swings according to the setting you choose.
At this point, i'd recommend getting it serviced. Frosty balls is not a good feeling

I have an 04, i'm going thru the same situation now too. I changed out the thermostat, adjusted the heater cable behind the engine and under the dash (though i never got engine side to compress back to short ). I also just plugged a vacuum line that was left unplugged from when my engine mounts were installed . Now people are telling me the system may be clogged, and it needs to get vacuumed.... PLease, let me know any updates. My car had been very reliable before this... Good Luck

Did you ever wonder what the vacuum line used to go to, and what it did?
I would say the car was reliable before work was done to it.
It sure sounds like someone is jerking you around with the core vacuum, what a silly idea on a newer car!
What are they going to vacuum, the inside or the outside of the core?
The outside is protected by a filter, the inside is too new to be plugged up through bad coolant.
GEE, maybe the vacuum line used to go to the heater core coolant valve...

My guess is that cable, it still hasn't compressed.. I need to find out how to get it to do that properly so that I can re-adjust it the right way...

^In my case, the motor that connects to the heater unit was the cause. The harnesses that connect to it were loose somehow, so I just put it all back in place..
