its silver(shiny-ish) in color and it looks like an "extra", meaning it looks like a separate piece between the car and the exhaust. there should be one right between the cat and the car.
but it could be an electrical problem. if you turn the heater on, does it get warmer or stay the same?

To know the differance:
try turning the seat heat on High for a few minutes- when its ON your butt will start roasting!
In normal operation you would use High for a few minutes to warm the seat, then switch to low and leave it there
See owner manual for details about overtemp shutoffs if left on high etc

Push the right side of the switch, HI, to rapidly heat up the seat. After the seat reaches a comfortable temperature, select LO by pushing the left side of the switch. This will keep the seat warm.
In the HI setting, the heater turns off when the seat gets warm, and turns
back on after the seat’s temperature drops.
In the LO setting, the heater runs continuously. It does not cycle with temperature changes.

hmmm thats opposite of my 01
On high it will run till it hits the temp overlimit breaker and shuts off- then when it has cooled enough it will kick back on high
When on low it cycles on and off to maintain a medium temp
book says high to warm them and the run on low for sustained use
Even says not to run them both on high at idle as its a huge drain on the electrics
IS your ac set to 68- that should keep it cranking with just ac air

yea i did it....but i have to get the tsb done on the driver seat for the rod that "strips out".....well it snapped and took a gear with it, so the frame has to be changed.....ill ask to get the foam changed as well because it includes the heating element. i havent even gotten the drivers seat covered in suede because of it.
