Has this happened to anyone before

I get up this morning to go to work, usually when I put the key in the ignition, i dont really need to look. But today when I try to put the key in it would not go in, I thought I was just missing the key hole but I wasn't. The key just wouldnt go in, i would say about 1/4 and inch of the key would go in and just stop. I messed with it for about 5 mins and it finally went in.

When I got to work I tried again after I turned the car off. If the buttons on the fob are facing me they key goes in smoothly, if the acura symbol is facing me the key needs a little bit of force to go in. What do u guys think it might be? Maybe put some WD-40 in there?

try turning the wheel HARD to the right or left (I can't remember which way it was when it happened to me) while you insert the key.

This used to happen frequently to my mom's old '87 accord. When it happened to me I was baffled, so I called her up to give me a ride home to get my spare key. She told me about the honda, I gave it a shot and it worked.

Idk what it is that does it... mebbe some obscure security thing or something? As I recall my doorlocks were behaving strangely at the time as well. I haven't had any trouble inserting the key since then though.

Stupid question, but the key isnt bent or anything, right? And does this happen with all three keys, or just that one?

You have the laser-cut keys which can have this problem sometimes. What you will need to do is buy some lock/key grease and apply a dab to the key, insert into the ignition and it should be good. If you want a safer, and cheaper method, insert your key into the door lock a few times, and that should lube it up. The grease is the black stuff that you see on the key, on the ridges.

Never heard of this happening on 3G TLs, I also have 07-08 switchblade key but I have an 05 TL. My key is not laser cut though. I usually can use either side of my key and it will turn just fine. I like the put it in with the key fob buttons facing me though, I just think it looks cooler.
