Your harmonic balancer went bad? How? What happened for you to find out?

After market performance lightweight crank pulleys DO NOT HAVE A HARMONIC BALANCER.

If you want a harmonic balancer your only option is to go with a OEM pulley.

These engines are internally balanced. The OEM crank pulley isn't explicitly a harmonic balancer. However, its weight allows it to absorb some of the resonant vibrations that may be present.

I had a UR lightweight pulley on my car for years with zero issues. Over 150k miles with it. You'll be fine if you replace the OEM with a lightweight one.

If you had a weight at the end of the crankshaft that was out of balance, of course it would make noise. Was it lose? I don't know how an 11lb solid pulley just goes bad...

I can tell you what happens when it goes bad , it ruined last weekend, it starts off rattling then if you ignore it, the thing breaks into its two component parts and the belt comes off. I have all the tech on mine so comes with electric steering so I was able to drive on until the battery was flat. Had it trailered home and now waiting for the part to be flown in from Japan. 105,000 miles on the clock.

The general consensus is that it's not a 'balancer'. But it does have a rubber-like insert, so it is/may be a noise and/or vibration dampner.

I think it's two pieces .... there's a rubber insert between the hub and the outer part of the pulley.

You can have mine for no cost, just pay the shipping. It has 90k miles on it. I replaced it with the UR pulley a few years ago.

Guess its different than the pulley on the 7th gen Accord V6 then... that was just a solid metal pulley.

Sounds like it. There is definitely a rubber insert ..... that's the NVH dampner.

Same part number as the Accord.... weird. I don't know. Mine had no rubber insert.
