99% sure my clutch is TOAST....and not the tastey kind.

Hey guys, I just wanted to post about what happened and have some people confirm my thoughts.

My clutch has been engaging very high up for awhile now and I've known it's been a long time coming.. OEM clutch @ 120k miles. Last night I was at a stop and gave a more firm start than normal to take off. Knowing the clutch is at its end I did not dump the clutch or launch at 5k, I did a moderate start at 3k and the car engaged then when I went to 2nd gear it just rev'd up. Same with 3rd. The car starts and runs perfect. No CELs. The gears appear to engage no problem. Everything is perfect but the car goes nowhere. There was a mild clutch smell as well.

I assume the clutch is completely gone. Can you guys confirm?

Sure as heck sounds like it. The OEM clutch without the Honda name on the package is available from rockauto.com, http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/more...494&cc=1429130

$172.79 + shipping.

This is the one I used when I had to replace mine. Works like a charm!

at an indie shop, look to spend $400 and up on labor.
$400 being the cheapest.

Thanks guys. Awhile back when I was looking into it I was quoted 900 by a couple shops. I think that was just for labor. You can buy the clutch/flywheel and everything needed for under $500. I'll be doing it myself.

Just had mine replaced. I chose to buy the Exedy OE replacement clutch kit. It's like a whole new car. The clutch grabs like a champ now!!! I ended up paying the shop $550. Half the price the dealer wanted to charge me. I got the clutch kit for $280 shipped btw.
