Grinding noise when rolling down front driver side window
I noticed a slight strange grinding sound when rolling down my window..it happens most when the window is just rolled half way down..so i bring it to acura and they say its the window regulator and would cost $248 installed but is not covered under warranty because I have tinted the windows..wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem

The dealership just wants to make cash on you.

when my accord started making this noise, it was a matter of days before the cable started to self destruct and shreaded....that is when i traded in the car and got the type s....i believe they quoted me more like 500 bucks...which is what i think the tl would cost since its the same part....or similar atleast....as far as the warranty that is bs....
i would like to see them try that with me....i paid the dealer for window tint which they say is warranty for life of the car....

YES I got the same problem so i bought the car down to the dealer and wat they did is take the door apart and lube the rail and clean out the dirt and stuff that sittin' on the rail....that's why everytime when you roll down or up you'll hear that grindin' noise...

no thats pure BS they wanna cash in on people... at which point you can tell they are a bunch of jerk offs.....i would go to another dealer and when they call from the one i left i would give them 0 across the board for satisfaction. and id call HQ and report them because they offer to tint the windows as an added feature/option/whatever u wanna call it when u buy the car which would cause it to "break" regardless.....so they cant use that as an excuse......theres ONLY 1 way to tint windows....not 30 and acura doesnt have the "correct" proedure on it.....they have the same one everyone else uses.

my rear drivers side window makes a noise when it's rolling down that sounds like a bearing failure, but maybe it's a dirty track? I'll try greasing it and see if that helps 'er out.

Keep Right Except to Pass
The driver's window in my 1988 RX-7 started making a grinding noise in May and a week later it would only go down halfway. (Thankfully, I could put it back up.) It came to a lot more than $248 installed, though, perhaps partly because I needed a new window motor that they wound up having shipped from somewhere in Canada (finding parts for that car is no longer so easy). I'd suggest that you try another mechanic for a second opinion but that you not put off having it fixed. I was lucky that my window went back up.
The part about the tint voiding the warranty seems suspicious to me, but then I don't have tint on either car so I'm no expert.

I'd love to find the answer to this as well, as the same thing is happening to our '08 right now. I thought it was the window regulator going, but if there's a quick fix that I can do, even better!

TSB 10-014 describes cleaning and lube procedure for window tracks, using Shin-Etsu. I think you could also use SuperLube from ACE hardware. Shin-Etsu is basically thinner di-electric silicone grease, which I think might be too thick. I have cleaned with ArmorAll Original protectant, then lubed w/ SuperLube.
Most (or all) TSBs are listed somewhere on this site.

2) Shin-Etsu (expensive) and Dielectric (cheap) silicone grease is for rubber, plastic, etc. - Honda specified for door and window seals. Do *not* use spray aerosol versions of silicone grease. The grease is OK, but the aerosol solvents will damage rubber.
3) SuperLube is a synthetic PAO based grease containing teflon - GM specified for rubber, plastic, and metal combinations such as door/ window rubber seals, door hinges, hood latches, door key locks, etc. Available in spray (aerosol) and tube - cheap.
4) Dow Corning MolyKote MH-62 Honda p/n 08798-9012 is for plastic and metal combinations - Honda specified for HVAC plastic door pivots, plastic linkages, etc. - expensive.

I stated what Honda recommends in the TSB - read it. But use what you want, where you want.

Fixed the grinding noise when the Window is half open and trying to close or open. I took apart the door panel. There are two bolts that is holding the window in place on the track. Both bolts were loose and was not holding the glass snug. I righted the bolts and silicone sprayed the tracks. Now smooth as silk and no more annoying grinding noise and clicking noise. Check this before you go jumping to replacing the regulator.
