Got a Fly in my tail light.

I have a fly stuck on the inside of my taillight lens. Is there an easy way to take the lens off to get the fly out?

I tried to take the whole light off, but when I got the bolts taken off and the plugs taken off I could not get the light off. Then I read some where in the forums in order to get the light off you have to take the bumper off. Is this true?

Thanks

yes, you have to take the bumper off to remove the tail light properly. It has been done in the past by pushing down on the bumper to get to the tail light bolts behind it, but if I recall, it cracked the bumper a bit.

you dont have to remove the whole bumper. just loosen the required screws and bolts on whatever side the light is that you want to remove. from the center of the bumper to the side marker. then just pull the bumper slightly off on that side. theres two 10mm bolts directly under the light assembly connected to a bracket. remove them and youre set. reassemble in reverse.

It makes sense... dog poop turns white when its really old and flies eat dog poop. Its the circle of life, or something like that.

There's no creature on earth that I hate more than a fly. I would probably flip out if that happened to my TL.

I know that's one of the things that will annoy the crap out of you- if left alone, do you think it will just degenerate over time? I know it'll last for while but hopefully would become dust after a while...that whole 'ashes to ashes, dust to dust' thing.

Try compressed air to move him around to maybe somewhere you can't find him. Shoot it through the back of the bulb opening, you'll be amazed when you shoot 120lbs of compressed air into a tailight opening.

My left tail light LENS has a crack. Can I just replace the lens...or must I replace the entire assembly? 08 TL.

IIRC, you have to replace the whole light. There's not an easy way to pop the lens off.

You will need to buy the whole light minus the LED board/bulbs. Acura does not sell a separate lens for our lights.
