Got the dreaded P0741 Code today

Today I was driving along and my CEL came on. Later that night on my way to work I was driving about 60mph and the car started trying to downshift and the transmission started slipping. After waiting a few minutes I limped the car to work and it only acted up one more time. I know this problem has been discussed in the past but has anyone found a solution other than replacing the transmission? I hooked the car up to a Snap-on Solus scanner and it gave me tests to run on the solenoid but I don't have the time tonight. I would rather try to replace the $300 solenoid than the transmission but if I am chasing my tail by doing it I would rather just rebuild/replace the trans. Thanks for any help in advance.

well if it slip then usually you will need a new AT, our TL AT isn't bullet proof like IS350 or G35.

How many miles are on your car? Can't believe the tranny on an 08 is toast already.

Solenoids cost like $60-80 and is probably one of the easiest things to do.

Worth a shot. Buy some Redline ATF + 3rd/4th gear solenoids and see if it helps/fixes it.

Good luck

The transmission on my 07 Type-S went out at 79K. I had it rebuilt at AAMCO but would received a much better price and warranty a the dealer.

The tranny that went out is in my 2005. I have been very careful with the 2008. I bout the 2005 fairly cheap due to hail damage. I just got done painting it and had only driven it for a couple of weeks before this. I have checked all of the solenoids. Everyone ohmed out fine so I'm just facing the facts that the trans is in need of a rebuild. Haven't decided whether I'm going to rebuild myself or take it somewhere.
