Sorry but this is about my wifes car (mazda) and i just want a general a/c answer....

The clutch wont engage at all. I tested and had 14v at the main harness running towards the compressor. I got under the car and tested the last connector before it splits to what looks like the clutch and comp and had 14v.

So my guess is the clutch is bad....

Do cars have thermal overloads on the compressor like residential ones?

Im just trying to figure out if there is anything else stopping the clutch. Whats the difficulty in replacing one or how much would a dealer charge for repair?

grab th clutch and turn it. if you can make two full turns then replace the clutch. if you cant, replace the compressor

 

i tried turning it and it doesnt move at all, how much resistance should it have?

The compressor isnt locked or the belt would snap when the clutch engaged right?

 

should have some resistance, but even a weak person could turn it. oh yeah engine off btw.no, the belt would not snap. im sure your clutch engages but your compressor is seized. no you would not hear the clutch engage.(unless the compressor is free) yes your pulley is not siezed, reason is your pulley and clutch ride on two different planes.
