Gear Box shifted??

The other day when I shifted into 2nd I heard and felt a click when I was in second, the shifter was down much further angled towards me a lot more than usual. Then when I shifted into third the shifter its self was pointed upwards as if I was in neutral. When I am in neutral the shifter is angled back towards me. When I put into 1 3 or 5 and push hard I can get it back to normal but the first semi hard shift I have into 2 4 or 6 it seems to go back to that problem. Can anyone shed any light as to what my stupid ace did and how to fix it?

Probably a linkage or shifter issue. Have someone shift and watch the linkage under the hood and you may be able to spot the problem. Look for bad bushings, linkages that may have slipped or bent, excessive play, or just out of adjustment. It's possible it's the shifter too.

99% of the time it was a stupid bushing and linkage problem when I used to do transmissions for a living. Of course when it was my own car it was an internal problem lol.
