Unhappy Airbag light on

Just today my airbag light came on. Sometimes it goes away but most times it comes on and stays on. My question if anyone can help me is what exactly im i looking at here and how much is it going to cost me. Am i stuck with only the dealer? I ask since im out of factory warranty. Its an 05 auto. I am the second owner,68,000 miles and clean carfax to date. No accidents! Any insight would be appreciated as i obviously want my airbags working properly.

you will need to have it scanned to narrow down the problem. until you do that, I don't think anyone can tell you what your looking for or how much it will cost.

No you are not stuck with the dealer, any independent shop should be able to scan your TL.

Just to clarify you mean the actual AirBag light located in the middle of the dash or do you mean the SRS light? For the AirBag light the most common problem is generally the passenger seat weight sensor, which detects wether something/someone is in the passenger seat.

On my Mustang you can see the airbag modules by looking in the upper grill. The problem with this is they are exposed ti the elements and over time, they would corrode and the airbag light on the dash would come on. Sometimes, the airbag light would go on and off for periods of time, flicker, etc.

I know the TL protects the modules better but I would check for corrosion first.

I think to actually reset the light, though, you'll have to go the dealership. I'll bet any Honda dealer could do it as well.
