Friend with cracked headlight/Any experiences with TYC?

I did an extensive search through the forum but could not find a specific answer to my question. A friend of mine has two cracked headlamps due to road debris (long story). He needs to replace both of them and wants OEM, but two headlights are over $900 together. The consensus on this site, according to my search, shows "go OEM." He found a well priced set of TYC assemblies on RockAuto for nearly half the price. Any experiences with these or any good recommendations? Thank you. This site is fantastic btw.

TYC lamps are certainly cheaper, the cutoff on the HID projector won't be as crisp, but they'll work. I would try www.car-part.com and locate used OEM ones.

Thanks for the reply. It is a hard choice because the used lamps are usually overpriced or damaged in one way or another.

Maybe look at a used set that has been refurbished by our headlight modification vendor. His name is Bruce, screen name Acktl 05. Depo is another option for aftermarket headlights.
