Fix for door dings?

I was just the victim of an ignorant holiday shopper....got caught up in Best Buy yesterday, and was dismayed to find someone had nailed my passenger car door, down by the door sill with their car door...I have a SSM, and there is now a dark gray ding, through the clear coat....so frustrating, when I normally try and park to avoid such problems....
I'm sure this thread has come up before, but what do people recommend as far as fixing this? When I run my finger over it, I can feel the ridges (several fine scratches and one big one) so I know it is through the clear coat, but it doesn't look down to metal... Is there a way to get the paint off and then buff it, then put a new coat? Kind of new to this, so I don't want to make it worse.
I would appreciate any advice so that I can patch up my pride and joy.

Thanks

Yep....the dent guy will polish it out most likey....the only thing that will be there is any scratch in the paint...and they can usually lessen that effect too. There is somebody else on there that just got it done on a REAL nasty scratch on their back door and it looked wonderful...look around. It was on a black car if I remember.

The absolute correct fix is usually around $125 per ding by the professionals. The little machines they use are doing a lot of work and you should be able to work some kind of deal for multiple dings.

I'm in the Santa Clara area (Bay Area, CA) and I used a good place recently. "Dings and Dents". I had a half-dollar sized dent from some schmuck with a car door and though the dent was pretty deep and the deepest area had a sharp ridge, they worked it out for only $80! The guy that owns the place worked on it; his name is Joe Currin, 408-246-0021. I'm passing this info along because he did a great job and was very professional with 10+ years experience in body work. He was even able to buff out some minor clear coat damage. Hope this helps.

Man, the same thing happened to me at my local BestBuy in Maryland. I didn't have a scratch but I did have a nice dent. I contacted a company called Dent Wizards and he pulled it out. It looks great, can't even tell it was there. He charged me around $100.
Good Luck with your fix.
