Fair price for these required services?

Long time lurker first post

Just wondering what would be a fair price to pay for these repairs. Had my 05 Tl in for the P/S hose recall and the dealer said that I need these repairs done also

The quotes are for parts and labour only.

Power steering Pump -leaking- $570 – not including flush and additional fluids
Side engine mount -broken- $230
Compliance bushings – cracked- $680 not sure if that for one or both side

Was in and out of the country a lot during 08-11 and kinda neglected the car for a while know so need a lot of work done on her. The moneys gonna need to stretch a bit....

Is there any other thing I should look at when getting these repair done. I been shuffling through the forums and read that when changing out one mount I should look at replacing the other mounts too. That the P/S reservoir should be swapped out when replacing the pump and flushing the system.

Any advice would be much appropriated

I have no comment for anything other than the side mount. That mount can be done in your driveway in less than 30 minutes with just a few sockets.

the price is reasonable for a Acura dealer, BTW the compliance bushing is for ONE side only and they are replace the whole lower control arm for that.

Did you see any leak, or were you shown any leak at the PS pump itself?
If not, don't do the PS pump work.

The PS hose was recalled because it could leak, so PS fluid in the engine bay doesn't mean it's the pump that is leaking.

With the compliance bushing, is it a replacement of the lower compliance arm?
You'll need to factor in an alignment if it is replaced, too.

Just watched a Youtube vid on this...... was not aware that it was so simple. Do I need to jack up the engine slightly to relieve pressure on the mount? and is this the part I need
50820-SEP-A12 I have a 6spd

I will not be servicing at the dealership, their 140/h is bit more than what I am willing to pay. In general when the compliance bushing is cracked do they have to replace the whole lower control arm. or is the dealership trying to pull a fast one on me? I am reading in another thread that they can just remove the LCA and press in another bushing.

Yeah there is a slow drip on the bottom of my car by the passenger side wheel and the pump looks like rockstar's in this thread https://acurazine.com/forums/problem...de-thx-840219/ It was just a coincidence it started to leak the same time as the hose.

I read about rebuilding the pump with new seals, but not comfortable taking on the task myself. If I cannot find one cheap or a shop to rebuild it for me at a reasonable price, I may just take a trip to O'reilly's in Bellingham.

That is the part I ordered for my '05 6-spd. I also ordered 90161-SDA-A01 which is one of the bolts. I think there was a thread somewhere stating that bolt is supposed to be replaced as well. I don't really remember...I replaced mine back in Aug of 2012. I didn't have to jack the engine up at all. It really was stupidly simple to swap it on mine. I think those that have to jack the engine up may have a bad front or rear mount as well.

I got my compliance bushings done at Acura of Valley Stream for about $500 or so (Yes, it's a lot but my mechanic wasn't available, and I'm not as repair savvy as I'd like to be yet). Can't remember the exact price at this second, but it's around there. That price included both parts and labor. In addition, they didn't replace the LCAs, just the bushings. They also did an oil change and stuff which was about $37.

Cool will remember to pick one of those up when I order. Also gonna grab some tools for the cars with the money I save........ Most of with which I have now are for my MTB and Road bike.....

That was what I remember seeing in another thread, $250 a side to have new bushings pressed in. Still looking for a Acura/Honda specific shop to see if replacing the LCA is actually needed. Since the Service Adviser only told me that the bushing was cracked. Still have the Acura Canada Survey to do, will lead to some interesting comments if I find that LCA replacement is not needed

Thanks again for all the useful insight everyone

I would definitely try it before spending over $500 to get it fixed, UNLESS the pump is leaking from the pulley side, then it's not worth attempting unless you know someone with a bearing press. The only real hard part to rebuilding the pump is getting it off and on the car without removing the motor mount. You're going to need box wrenches to get some of the bolts off since there's only a few cm of clearance. Otherwise, all you really have to do is take 4 bolts off the back of the pump and replace some gaskets! I did this about a year ago, but unfortunately I could feel the pulley bearing was shot and I had to get a new one since nobody around here would press the new one on. If you feel comfortable with taking the pump off, I guarantee you can rebuild it!

You can easily take care of most of this and save a ton of money. You can buy the bushings for the control arms and have a shop put them in for around $150-200.

Take the PS pump off and get it rebuilt or rebuild it yourself. It'll probably end up needing some new gaskets and that's it.

The side mount isn't that important and you can leave it alone for a little bit. You can replace it within an hour if you are new to the wrenching world. Save yourself a ton of money and do it yourself!

Thanks again for all the advice

Had a few things come up and had to put this off, but right back on track now..... and sent a request to the dealer for a quote on the parts.

Just to be sure does anyone know if this is the correct part

Compliance Bushing 51394-SEP-A01 -is there any other I would need-

For all the other part I just followed Jackass suggestions and the part listed Rockstar143 DIY.

Also are the part found at Rockauto comparable in quality as genuine Acura. Parts here in Canada are ridiculously overpriced. I remember looking for a APP sensor and it was close to $200 more here.
