Factory Sub - Rattle in the Back

Hey Guys, was playing some music and noticed that when the sub is going on only SOME songs the upper part of the seat (under where the sub sits) starts rattling. Does this happen to anyone else?

There is a thread all about this, I don't have time now, leaving for work. The 07 TL-S is a 3.5 liter/286 hp.

Try these......and it can also be that stupid Baby=Seat Hook cover (whatever the hell its called) that covers the babyseat hook on the rear deck...Mine rattled like crazy on certain low frequencies ...put foam/sponge to keep it supported...

i also have a 07 tl-s...

pull out the middle seat belt as far as it can go and hold it tight, if the rattling stops than you have the middle seat tensioner rattle...very, very annoying.... still can't figure out how to fix that one

It stops if I apply a little downward pressure to the adjacent subwoofer area.

I just saw this thread and decided to do something about my rattle. Although mine wouldn't rattle with the stock sub, with the two JL 12W6s in the trunk it was embarassing. I either had to keep the bass low or turn it up loud enough to cover up the rattling. To fix mine I stuck an old paper CD case between the glass and rear deck. Currently looking around for a more permanent (non ghetto) solution. Eventually the whole area will be dynamatted.

I had a rattle problem on the rear deck as well, took it down to the dealership and they fixed it under warranty.

Yea...but some dealers are inept and further damage your vehicle (See S L I C K 's thread about his TL-S)....for minor issues such as these, it might be better to do it yourself..but thats just my opinion

I had this exact problem and decided to fix it myself. I diagnosed it the exact same way you did pravin.george. The butt of the problem lies in the back of the rear deck (near the back windshield) and the windshield/metal underneath vibrating. To fix this temporarily, I went in the trunk, removed the four "push-pins" that hold up the carpetting on the top and then when you look underneath you will see some small slits with some type of black lining that you can see through. Push up on these and see if the rattling stops. If so, just stuff something it it for a temporary fix.

Thanks! I think that should solve the problem.
