I am getting an engine noise as I accelerate between 20 and 30 miles an hour. It almost sounds like spark knocking. The dealership hears it but told me I need to use better gas. My dealership couldn't fix a flat tire! I use premium gas only and I drive a lot and go through a tank of gas every other day so it is not the gas. Does anyone have any suggestions? Oh by the way, just for info my TL's interior rattles more than my 92 year old grandmother and the dash keeps oxidizing. Got to love that Honda/Acura quality!!!! Thanks.

Jeff, I believe people have mentioned that the knocking is due to a loose heatshield. can some please confirm this. Thanks

Thanks for the info. It's sad when we have to diagnose the problems when the dealership can't. I'll print the info and take it to Acura.

 

I had to take it to dealership twice before they would agree it was the heatshield.

 

you can do something about the dash. there is a pretty good thread about what to use to clean it, i use the stuff from honda, others use different cleaners, all seems to be with good success

is the headshield on the cat? or something else, i havent looked into it at all as i dont have any noise but just curious about where its located
