Engine light flickering...?

I was coming home(in my 06'TL with AEM CAI) about 30 km from where i live on the highway....following a 06' camry doing speeds about 80-100 miles , light acceleration. Anyway i accelerated hard to exit and i was doing about 95 miles in 3rd gear. Then all of a sudden the engine light flickered, exactly how many times i don't know . Maybe four times then pause, then another four times and another pause....about 10 times. I know it hopefully isn't anything too dramatic but i'm worried for my baby...:S

How would i check for air leakage in the intake? Would it only leak where the intake bolts directly to the engine? Also is it possible it burnt oil when i punched it? It was driving normally after...? Any idea people? Poor baby hope she's ok! I hope it's not the tranny?

Really doubt it is because of the intake leaking.

From reading the forum often, I have often read that a flickering CEL (check engine light) during hard accelaration is because the engine is experincing misfires.

The standard (and often successful) advice is to take your car to an Auto Store that can read your computer for the error code. Once you get the error code, post the code here on the forum, and other will chime-in to tell you what the code indicates.

Also i forgot to mention i am hearing a clicking sound from the engine...it sounds abnormal, some ppl already posted that it may need valve adjustment, heatshield, belt? I don't hear an increasing pitch as the rpm's go up..so i'm not sure what it is?

I don't think it's valves or belts if there is no increase in pitch or frequency of clicks as RPMs increase.
Years ago on old-style engines (Ford 302-2V and 2.8 "Cologne" V-6), I experienced constant clicking with the engines on from bad fan clutches, but don't know if the TL even has a fan clutch.

95in third

How many rpm,s were you turning at the time? Sounds like you might have been bumping the rev limiter at that speed in third.

The Rev limiter wouldn't trigger the CEL, but 95 is pushing max 3rd gear speed IIRC.

The TL has electric fans and hence no fan clutch.

Hey guys, as the car is still pretty new and the aftermarket CAI is installed how should i go about reading the code? The local parts source store can't possible screw anything up by attempting to hook it up to their system to read the code...? can they? I don't want to bring it to the dealer cause of warranty and the fact that they're gonna charge an arm and a leg... What would u guys do?
