I have replaced my Sway bar links twice, and I never saw any rubber boots.. But they are "Torn" according to Lute Riley Honda. haha

What is he talking about?

That 'black portion' you see in the middle, between the gold & silver spring clips, on the pictures in the link below? That's rubber.

No I didnt go back to OEM. So I dont know why there would be rubber boots. I got one set from ebay and the last set is from Orielly. I thought maybe he was talking about the sway bar mounting grommets.. But he said "replace end links".. So i have no idea. haha Maybe there is rubber on them but I thought they were all metal.

I believe you. But I did not put on OEM last time. Nevertheless, I will have to rip the wheel off again and take a look... haha

Which end links did you use?
Every end link i looked at has boots. The grease sits in the rubber boots where the ball pivots.
I recently purchased a set of moog end links with grease zerks, will have to install them soon.

ya, I am wondering if I installed my last set properly or not...

But the dealers have discontinued them...So, I wonder what a good alternate brand is? Not only that, I have the Type-S sway bar, so I heard those have bigger holes on the end for the links. So I think the Links have bigger bolts from what I have read on Azine. The part number is different for sure between the base TL and the TypeS. So just trying to figure out what to buy.. And I would not doubt it if some aftermarket sellers do not show a difference.

off the subject: Seems like Acura could have designed a Link with only 1 ball joint instead of 2. 2 ball joints in 1 link just increases the failure rate and increases the possible points of failure.

I just looked on the links below and both the TypeS and base TL have the same part number for the sway bar links! How weird. I know I have read on this website, people talking about the links being larger in diameter on the typeS. haha crazy people. Even the swaybar is the same diameter.. but thats another topic

Maybe for the 07 and 08 they are the same….I know for sure the type s front end links are larger than my 2004 AT front links (the bar is also larger, and solid..).

Yes its solid, but I am pretty sure I re-used the same mounting grommets on my base 05, so the diameter of the swaybar itself should be the same size.. just solid.

and when I installed my end links, both ends mounted up perfectly. One hole wasn't any larger than the other. So this agrees with the fact that the part numbers are the same for the end links. At least for 07 and 08. I have not checked the part # for the 05, but I think it is the same "physical size" because as I said, I already have installed the swaybar and nothing is out of the ordinary. Meaning, the bolts fit the holes just fine. I guess my 05 has bigger kahunas than your 04? hehe

I checked all the part numbers for each year.
For the front links, there is a different part number between 04/05 and 07base/07 TypeS but no difference in part number between 07 base and 07 TypeS
For the swaybar diameter, They use the same mounting brackets as shown by the part# below. So there is no difference in diameter. Plus I did not buy new swaybar mounting brackets when I had my typeS bar installed. And they asked about that prior to installation... but me and another mechanic said they are the same. Then the other mechanic installed it no problem.
I had my TypeS swaybar installed. And I bought it used and I think it came with the links! But the shop installed them. But they said nothing about them "Not Fitting"..
But I will double check in the near future to see if anything looks odd!

in the post that you list, I said that "I was guessing" about drilling out the hole. I did not have first hand experience with that at that time.... And that was probably before I had a shop install mine. I was just going off of what everyone else was saying about the end link bolt diameter. Nevertheless, I still don't actually have first hand experience with mounting the links on my TypeS bar. But the install shop said nothing about having any difficulty mounting the endlinks to my 05. And the endlinks came with my used swaybar from Ebay. But hey, I will be checking it out soon..

But yes the TypeS swaybar itself does have a different part number because it is solid. But its not fatter. I do remember that when the shop asked me about the mounting brackets. And 2 of us said that are the same. And they installed it with no problem.

Idk what to tell you Chad, but there are more differences than just size to the sway bar (that’s what she said!).

You seem like you’re trolling for certain things, and idk y. I literally could care less.

The only stuff I post on here is either questions, or possibly help in what I’ve read over the years on Acurazine. I’m not a mechanic or a novice in anything car or suspension related. But I do know some facts. They may differ from what you’ve thought, but most are facts. So be so kind to just let it die. If you believe you’re 100% correct, awesome! Glad that you feel that way.

I have some facts given to me here on Acurazine that say different. Just FYI.

Have a great day! And good luck with the end link solution.

No difference in diameter? Really? Hmmm, I don’t know where you’re getting info from, but that to me isn’t correct.

I personally bought type s sway bar mounts when I bought the bar.

I didn’t realize til later that the bolt size for the end links from 2004 was 10mm, whereas the type s bar endlinks were 12mm. Stupid me, it worked as is, but I thought I noticed a lil play. Upon researching more, I found the difference. Ended up drilling out my 2004 arms to the 12mm, and got the type s endlinks. Problem solved…

anyway.. how much did you drill your lower arm holes out? 1mm? 2mm? did it compromise the strength of the mounting hole at all?

I'm just trying to verify before I buy. I will probably typeS ones (and drill the lower arm if I have to) since I have the TypeS sway bar.
I'm still scratching my head on what my "installation shop did" when they install my swaybar. Now I get to find out.
