Drivers seat motor issue

2008 here. For a few years now, the memory seat function has stopped working. When I go to manually adjust the driver's seat (back and forward) it only goes back like an inch and stops. I re hit the switch to go back and it moves another inch. The motor works, but it doesnt go back continuously. I can always get the seat to go where it needs to go, but just holding the back and forward button wont work. I have to constantly push, release, push release....Recline works fine etc etc.

Maybe seat position sensor went bad? Hard to tell without testing or having scan tool capable of communicating with seat memory module. I think sensor is build-in into the motor, so suspect whatever motor is responsible for sliding the seat.

I gotta tell you;

picking up a bi-directional scan tool has been the best investment I have ever made on a car-maintenance-mod purchase.

I picked up a "Launch" scan tool.
not quite as expensive as an Autel or Snap-on system, but was still a pretty penny.

My family and friends have lots of different makes and models was another reason why I chose a scan tool not specific to my car and I assume is why it cost a lot...to have a library of auto manufactures at my fingertips is cool!!!!

this thing is bad ass and is one of the best tools in my troubleshooting arsenal

The Launch X431 V 2021
it's just a re-skinned Lenovo Tablet running Android.

Amazon had a lightening deal for $760 a week ago. right now it looks like $899
I had been looking for a week and then all of a sudden I saw the lightening deal. Score!

Turns out my ABS pump was fine and instead the DTC was for FL Wheel speed sensor.
