Driver side window/side mirror creaking noise -FIX

Hey,

I have had my car for a year and with it, the annoying window seal creaking/rattling noise. I tried all the fixes posted on this site and nothing worked -until I actually took the time to isolate the noise. If you have the following problem I may be able to help -with the window closed, stand outside your car and close your driver's side door. If you hear a rattle from the side mirror, it could be causing that annoying creaking/rattle noise. For the longest time, I thought the noise was coming from the window seals, but it was actually coming from the side mirror. The Fix (sorry there are no pics):
-from outside your car, open the driver door and look down over the side mirror.
-where the mirror attaches to the door, there's a plastic covering (body color); the "top" part of that cover goes over a metal frame on your door -if you press on it, you should be able to reproduce the sound
-using any type of grease (I used lithium grease, silicone will work too) and try to work it into the area that this plastic cover makes contact with the metal frame (you may need to gently pry the plastic away from the metal to apply the grease);

On my car I shoved as much grease as I could across the whole section that makes contact with metal. For good measure, I did the same thing to the window trim (inside and outside) that makes contact with metal. It's been 2 days and I haven't heard a peep from the window. Now I hear other rattles! This is a neverending job -at least the other rattle are not as annoying.
Hope this helps
FM

I hope that grease doesn't come out when it rains and get on your car. EEK.

I solved that rattle the same way but I used silicone spray since it's pretty harmless to the paint.
