Driver door wouldn't close?

So the story is this. . . After washing my car earlier today (noon) i came home(8 pm), opened the garage parked my car and as i pushed in the driver side door to close it shut, it just bounced back at me as if the handle was stuck open?!?!? I proceeeded to attempt to push the door in 5 -10 more times and the same result....it just bounced back at me!? The weather was -15 degrees celcius without the windchill. I went in to get a hair dryer to try and "unthaw" the lock area however before i used the hairdryer i tried once more and then it worked! I checked numerous times to see if a seatbelt or any other object were in the way, but there was none!

I used the car after i washed it about 3 other times before i came home and the door closed fine! I park it during the day in an underground garage (not heated). . . I've washed th car many times before in this weather and never had a problem...The only thing i remember is one snowy day the cr was outside and i opened the door and put the wiper on by accident and snow came in the door panel. Could that have something to do with it? Has anyone ever had this problem? Strange i'm not even sure if its the combination of the wash and the weather? Should i spray any WD40 in the lock?

on my moms really old ford escort, the lock would freeze in the winter NY temps, so we had to stand in the cold outside and unthaw it. We used to put some lock lubricat that this locksmith gave to us and it still used to freeze. I just guess that ht e water got inside the lock and just froze. just my

I'm with csmeance. That was icing for sure. It's the latching mechanism, not the lock that was most likely frozen. Hit it with some lube.
