Door trim removal - stopper screw help!

Hi everyone,

I found this useful thread of how to strip every single interior piece apart, and I did that for the back compartment, which i don't use anyway.

So the rear seat's out, rear shelf is nicely matted and insulated with fiberglass,, now I was off to the door.

Door trim removal looked as easy as lifting the rear shelf, but there's this bugger, the stopper screw won't come out!

At first I just thought it was deep, but when I took a sneak peak through the black plastic and door metal, I saw a shiny silver metal washer spinning WITH the screw..

I could not find a plyer in my toolbix that's skinny enough to fit through the peek gap....

anyone had this problem??????

Normally you unscrew that screw very slowly. But sounds like the set washer has already come loose. You need to stick something in there to hold it, like needle nose plyers. Or tweezers.

you can try to get some sort of shim behind the head of the screw so there is pressure on the other side of the door where washer is and that may prevent it from spinning as you unscrew.

This is the only screw when removing the door panel that's a pain. I wonder why they designed it like that??

I used needle nose pliers to hold it from spinning while unscrewing it with a screw driver.

Yeap, I had the same problem. The silver metal was spinning with the screw when I was trying to untighten it. Use a needle nose pliers or maybe even a wire cutter and stick that in between the panel and the door metal to hold it. When I was tightening the screw, it wasn't spinning.

I try to use finesse to get that screw out but when that doesn't work I just stick a needle nose in there and hold it.
