Does anyone know why this happened?

Hey everyone, does anyone else have these scratches in the circle under there door handles? I have them on all four doors. Is there anyway to remove them without having to paint? And any clue why this happens? Here are some pics

I don't wear rings or any jewelry. I don't open my doors with anything on my hand. Is there anything that will remove this?

@justinspace thanks for fixing my pics.

Is there a way to remove the handles? My buffer won't fit thru there.

Dont think by hand will work....
you need the machine, because hand cannot possibly rotate at 2-3k rpm, much less at 6,000 rpm.

From fingernails hitting the paint when grasping the door handle. Take some cleaner wax with a cloth and polish and you can hold the handle outward to gain some additional room.

This. you could also use some compound/polish (Scratch-X, for example) if the cleaner wax isn't aggressive enough.

When done, put a wax or sealant finish coat on.

Probably need to repeat every 6-months or so.

I have the exact same thing. And I don't wear jewelry and don't use my key to open the door. Must be my fingernails .

Eh..all you're doing with those products is filling in the scratches. You'll likely need a PC to buff that out

I was thinking it might be from the snow remover brush.

lol Just...

I have most of mine in the 2 front doors and it is most likely from fingernails. Waxing it helps get some of them off.

Yeah i get these huge cluncks of ice that won't let me open the door. And I don't have long nails to be able to do that kind of damage. It has to be the snow brush. I'll polish it thus weekend depending on the weather.
