So, I bought a new set of TPMS from Tire Rack for after market wheels, because my OEM weren't reading as well, and was hoping that it will automatically initialize to my car, but it did not and found out that I had to reset the TPMS. Called several Acura dealers to see how much they will charge to reset the TPMS and it will cost me $150 just to reset the system. I even told the guy that my car was under warranty and I never even touched the OEM TPMS, and he said it does not matter, because I have 2 set of wheels (OEM & aftermarket). I don't really see why that matters, because a lot of people switch from winter to summer tires frequently and never had a problem. Anyways I have read some where on one of the Honda forums that someone was only charge 10$ just for a reset through a Honda dealer. So I tried calling some Honda dealers to see if they are able to help me out with my problem, but they said I would have to take it to Acura.

Does anyone know any local shops (So Cal.) that are able to reset the Acura TPMS or does anyone have the reset tool that can help me out? I'm willing to pay 20$ if that is fair. Thanks

 

No such thing as a "reset" tool for our TPMS. They're self adjusting.

 

It's your non-OEM TPMS that's the problem.

 

I had my OEM sensors on before and still got the same problem. The TPMS from Tire Rack are made from the same company as the OEM. So I don't think it's the sensors that are bad, because when I start up my car, I'm able to see in the MID each individual readings from the tires for couple seconds before the error message pops up. There is a reset tool.

If you're still under warranty, the stealer should be able to do this for you for free.

^ Yeah the stealership should be able to do it for free since I am still under warranty, but he was giving some bs reason why it is not covered, because of the fact that I have 2 set of tires, with different set of TPMS.

So I was able to get my TPMS working again. One of my buddy's dad is a mechanic and his shop happen to have the device to reset the TPMS. All he did was plug the hand held device into my car and then everything was back to normal. Only took about a minute to reset the TPMS.

 

Next time dont tell the dealer that you have aftermarket sensors tell him you have oem ones so it can be warrantied.

 

I'm having the same problem with my wife's 2010 TSX now. I replaced one of the sensors after one broke on me. The replacement is the same as the OEM used in the rest of the wheels. I'm looking to buy a tool to reset the system myself instead of paying the stealership to do it. Any idea what's the brand and model of the handheld device your buddy's dad used to reset the system?
