Does anyone else's rear brakes look this bad?
hey guys my 05 6spd TL has 52,00km and the rear brakes have been scoring like this for the last 20,000 i'd say. I had them do a brake service back in august and the problem has persisted. I've booked an appointment for tuesday to have them looked at, but it sounded like i'm gonna end up paying for another brake service again. To further this the Parking brake won't hold the weight of the car on about a 30 degree slope while in gear. What do you guys think? do your rears look like this?
LR

RR in the morning
RR after short drive

It seems like the right side is functioning ok, but the left side doesn't look too good.

in the winter i try to spray it down at the coin wash bout every 2 weeks, and i usually pay attention to try to blast all the crap out of the wheel well area so i don't know if it would be caused by that.
Jackasswhy, i don't think it's metal on metal because there is no noise comming from it under braking.
On a side note if they find the calipers to be faulty and replace them under warranty, should the rotors be covered under warranty as well because they were damaged by the faulty calipers? I know rotors and pads aren't covered under warranty because they are a wear item, but they should atleast be pro-rated at a minimum.

Everyone is wrong,
Metal on metal you would know and that entire rotor face would be swiped out.
Its called rust, your rotors are creating rusted ridges on the surface. It happens all the time, most of the time due to a lot of water/rain and the car sitting. Drum brakes are very very common for these problems to the point where it becomes very hard to pull off the drums due to these rust ridges.
Around 28k check your rear brakes when they are due for service replace your rotors as well, and while they are replaced it wont hurt to clean and adjust those E-brake shoes.

Mine looked twice as bad as those, I wish I had taken pics of them. The passengers side and at least 4 1/4 inch grooves in it. The drivers side the inside was completely rusted except for a small groove. Everything seemed to retract fine when I compressed the pistons. I'm assuming it's because we have such powerful front brakes on the 6MTs?
Anyways I changed everything out, new pads, rotors and WOW!! This car stops even faster than before.
I'll have to check and see if I've thrown the rotors out yet, if not I'll post pics for you guys.

if your calipers were frozen, you'd have either a hard pedal, that bluish color on your rotors from the heat, or a nice burning smell....you can resurface the rotors, but the thinner the rotor gets...the faster it can warp..

the thing i don't get is the brembo fronts look brand new they wear so evenly, i understand that there is significant bias towards the fronts but common, i think this is a case of shitty honda calipers, i don't see many other cars with a similar condition.

Thread revival time. I ended up replacing all the pads and rotors on August 20th (can't remeber mileage but near say 55-58km, at 61,750 I had a rear brake service performed at the dealer. I'm now sitting at 67,000km and this shit is coming back with a vengeance. I feel like my car/dealer is saying Yippie Ky yeah mother Fu**er to me right now. I don't even know where to start. I'm at school now and am 400km from my dealer and there is not one in town. I think i'm going to take it to Honda here, see what they say and possibly just buy after market rear parts. what do you guys think? I'll snap some more pics tomorrow.

they did a rear brake service, so bascially took them all apart and greased the sliders etc. New rotors were installed about 5000km prior. My rear rotors have less than 10,000km on the and look like shit.
