Disappointed - 6MT Synchros Replaced

I just got my '06 6MT TL back from having the synchros replaced by the dealer. First thing I noticed was that it no longer pulled as hard on 2nd and 3rd. It's still too early to tell if it indeed fixed the 'popping out of 3rd' problem. Has anyone else had their synchros replaced? Did the 3rd gear problem ever recur?

Pardon my ignorance. How exactly do I reset the ECU? Is it as easy as pulling a fuse?

Wow, DMZ... helpful.. you totally had the perfect answer, but unfortunately, the OP didn't ask about fixing the 3rd gear problem, and at this point, no amount of tranny fluid changes are going to restore the power he believes he's lost. But, good job running over that dead cat.

G2Teg2TL,

I still have and love my DB2, what'd you have? A DA9? Were you on g2ic at all?

I had the 3rd gear gearset replaced in my 07 TL-S with the 're-engineered' parts, I'm guessing I was one of the first people to have it done... Is that what you had done?
There are definitely directions to reset the ECU someone on this forum, in that FAQ probably.. too bad the frequent users tell you to search instead of posting a link. anyway, I don't think the ECU reset is going to help, but do it anyway, and be sure to let the car's learn procedure complete by allowing it to idle with all the accessories turned off.

If the problem persists, keep going to the dealership.. though it's probably going to take a dyno or quarter mile slip to prove you've lost power.

i dont see how getting your syncros replaced would affect your hp output as far as how hard your car is pulling in 2nd and 3rd gear...i would say if your if your clutch is not slipping, then its probably in your head...

I did have the gear set replaced. The 3rd gear problem became more of a safety issue than an annoyance when I drove the TL daily. The recommendation came from Acura Techline directly. Since I got it back, I haven't experienced the 3rd gear issue. But as I've said, the drawback is that I feel that it lost its 2nd-3rd gear pull. It seems like there is a lag now - I hear the engine first (rev higher) before I feel the acceleration whereas before, it was simultaneous. I did find the link to resetting the ECU in the garage. Anyway, I'll give it some more time.

I still have my auto DA9 but loaned it to my bro-in-law in the last 6 weeks. It still runs strong except that it won't shift out of 2nd gear until it warms up. It was my daily driver and will again be when I get it back. I'm still a member of G2IC but don't frequent it as much as I did.

This sounds like a clutch problem. But that would be felt everywhere. Unless they changed the gear ratios, you shouldn't feel any difference.

The higher rev then acceleration is a weird symptom for a MT.

I had the 3rd gear synchro replaced. About 3 days after, I had the shifting problem on 3rd and 4th gear. Acura put in the GM fluid about 2 months ago and no problems since. It's an old story told many times here.
