Unhappy dead in garage

my wife parked our 2004 tl navi friday after work and was not driven at all this weekend. monday am [ today] the car was dead . jumped it and it started right off. nothing left on except her cell phone charger and phone was plugged in. she has done this since we bought car in april 2004. any ideas what drained the battery down? i guess we will have to do something with the navi access code to get it working again. she has no audio now either. is this because of navi down?

There are two codes. One for Navi and one for audio. The audio will work if you don't enter the navi one, but might as well do both...

Hard to say what may have cuased it, but it is not due to the phone being plugged into the charger. The power outlet gets power cutoff to it when the car is off, unless you have done to mod that was listed on the site to keep is powered when the car is off.

See if it does it again soon. If it does, I would just make a trip up to the dealer and have them take a look at it.

I have read before (cant remember where) that it takes 9 miles or so to recharge the battery juice used just to start a car. Now with all the gadgets that remain "on" a car can die without being driven for 2 weeks....so maybe if you were driving it, but only for short trips, it finally drained the batter down too low to start???

Some TL's were recalled for this problem. There is a defect in the Navi system where something occasionally stays on when it should be off and it keeps drawing electrical power, eventually draining the battery. You might want to talk to your dealer to see if the fix applies to your car.

Thumbs up

hybrid i think your on to something. i recall over a year ago when i first started reading the community that something was staying on draining the battery. thanks for reinforcing my memory. the battery tested out fine with a full load. service man over phone said to check out battery first.; could be any number of things.

Make sure your outside temperature display is not flatlined. If it is, most likely, this is the culprit. Six weeks after purchasing my '04 TL, mine went flatlined and 5 days later, after having sat in my garage, the battery was stone dead.

They had to change mine out - as it was croaked after using a tire pump to top off all 4 tires. Brought it in and they checked it out - unlike yours, mine failed the load test - they replaced under warranty - no problmes since and can now use the same tire pump with no problems anymore.
