Dead battery, how to open hood from under?

Hi. My 05 TL battery died and I can't get in to open my hood. I attempted to open it from under the vehicle, but the hood latch cable separated from the bracket. I've tried placing it back in, but its like working blindfolded. I'm unable to visualize a way to latch the ball end. Is there a way to bypass the cable for now and pop the hood by activating another mechanism?

Thanks

Did you try the keyhole in the driver door?

Yes but the key won't turn left or right. My only option at this point is to open it from under the car. But the second latch is the only one accessible. Unless anyone knows a way to open it through the grill.

It's probably just jammed up from a lack of use. Use some penetrating lubricant in there and let it soak for a while. Then try to use the keyhole. Might need to use a but of force, but be reasonable with it.

I would also try other keys if you hadn't them to rule out any key issues, even if unlikely.

If the hood cable is not connected, it doesn't matter if he can open the car door at this point. He has to figure out how to get the hood open to do anything at this point.

I figured it out. I located the latch mechanism that engaged the hood pop. I pushed it with a screwdriver and the hood popped open. 🙂

Good job.
So, which 'latch mechanism' did you actuate with the screwdriver through the front grille?
The long side of the lever (blue) or somewhere at the 'D' (red)?

I activated the E mechanism from underneath the car.
