Dashboard on Passenger Side - large gap

Aside from a few minor rattles and some rear deck speakers that sound blown, which I will get fixed on my first service visit, I am happy with the fit and finish of my TL, picked up last week.

Until today, when I opened the passenger front door to get something off the floor, when I saw a fairly large gap between the plastic and metal frame in the area behind the door closure.

Is it me, or is this gap larger than it ought to be? In my mind, it should sit flush with the metal, with less than about 1/8 gap. It looks about 3/4 inch here. Has anyone else had this problem?

It is the feature of the car - my 04 TL did not have the gaps, but I believe starting 05 , or 06 they all have - my current 06 has the same gaps unfortunatelly.

I don't think it's supposed to be like that. The fitment on the driver's side is much tighter. Called the dealership today and they told me to drive it through and they'll pull another TL around to compare. I'm betting they'll need to keep it for a while to snap everything in tight. Should be able to do it tomorrow. I'll take some good before and after pics.

I bought my TL new and it's always been like that. Pushing on it does nothing. I just assumed it was supposed to be like that. I'm interested to see where this goes.
