Cupholder sliding compartment door broke...where to buy?

Cupholder sliding door thingy. Anyone know where I can order a replacement of this? I tried fixing with hot glue, but of course, car gets so hot that it came undone. I would prefer to just order the door since I know how to get the assembly out and replace it. Thank you!

Try Krazy Glue?
Temporarily you can try duct taping the bottom of it together.

I'm looking at this page but it doesn't seem like you can buy just the "door" part.

the duct tape will pul part and teh super glue will turn the black to white cause of the chemical reaction. Great ideas though. I know that little stuff like this going bad is what eventually makes an old car seem old. lol.

Yes, thanks for the link. This just happened to me as well! Rockstar, I am almost certain mine broke at the same place as well! To "notches" from the handle!

I see you're from South FL, any dash cracking? Mine is getting worse and I thinkthe heat had a lot to do with the cup holder thing

wow i didn't know such a thing could break ... seems that most of the southern owners are having issues with the interior falling apart though due to the extreme heat

Dang, for real!? $30 bucks I'd be all over it. Have the link? I'll search.
PS, so is it one color for all of us?

My dash hasn't cracked at all THANK GOODNESS...I bought this from stepdad and he used to park it under cover. Mine sleeps in a garage and at work I put up a sunshade because I had read about the cracking dashes.

I actually had solved the problem for a while by putting some JB weld in between the grooves...it held just fine and then just recently, because of the stiffness from the weld, it broke 3 rows behind that. I was going to try again but then I'd have like 6 rigid rows and it will just snap back further back.

I will say I'm a friggin EXPERT at center console removal at this point thought...

PS...it's 47 shipped on ebay. But used...for that I'd rather have a new one.
AND DAMMIT...a good friend of mine just turned in his TL for voluntary repo. Should have swapped my noisy factory amp, center console padded armrest and friggin sliding compartment!

Haha, wikianswers.

Yes, they are all the same colour.

Acuraoemparts offers every part, so if you only see one colour you can buy, chances are there is only one colour LOL

Tell us how the install goes

Yeah rockstar, keep us updated, would you be willing to do a DIY for this? or maybe point me in the right direction for replacing this part? I think i will be ordering it soon.

I didnt even get the chance to glue/tape them together because it seemed to have brok when i had it "open" and the rest of the door is in the recess area where it goes when cupholders are in use... so you can imagine my surprise when i pull the lid one day and its broken!

Totally CUSTOM baby....
lol.
I'm a firm believer in fixing all the bs little stuff that breaks as it breaks. You let things go and pile up and before you know it, your car looks it's age, or older. People are usually blown away when I tell them it's an 04, they usually guess 08 if they KNOW Acura's and brand new if they don't.

Ok...I ordered mine...63 bucks shipped. Whatever, worked OT last week...
Moose...very easy friend very easy...
Pop off side trim pieces
unscrew 7 screws (i'll show you which ones if need be) then unscrew the 2 screws IN the rear console area.
slide whole console back enought out cupholders (PS, unclip the bracket holding the rear accessory charger wiring under the rear portion).
Then take the whole assembly out. Then, there are 3 more screws from the bottom that allow you take off the top portion and you'll be able to pull the broken off part of the door back out.

I did this twice, once with hot glue gun= crap TOO SOFT, broke again
once with jb weld = crap TOO HARD, snapped a few rows further back because of the angle of the door when pushed back.

Some things you just have to replace, I guess!

Holy mother...that is scary! I have the lines on the airbag, like the seam is protruding, but not the dash. I have been slacking less and less with the sun visor. I wonder if the aerospace 303 is what's keeping mine alive? Not sure. That is sucky man...sucky!

Anyway, thank you for sharing...if delray is acuraoem parts...why the variation on cost?

Yah.. trust me I take care of my dash .. I use a sun visor.. But, now that I no longer have a garage and my car sits outside all day, I think it finally just couldnt take it anymore! I even jsut got my window retinted on saturday to 5%!! and it cracked 2 days ago..

Variation in price? Maybe due to shipping. I am about 30 minutes away.. but still... you dont live THAT much farther.

Keep the tracks clean and free of debris.
if not free of debris, slide will get caught in tracks, putting more pressure on the tiny handle, ultimately ripping the handle from the slide.

^ think there's degradation of the connecting material over time...I wouldn't be shocked to find out the same "eco friendly" material that was used on the dash, was used on the ribbing.

Plastic always breaks when it is folded back and forth all the time. This cover flexs into a curl , then straight again. Mine just broke yesterday too. It split on 1 of the seams. When I was younger I had an old 1978 Trans Am, and the center console opened from left to right. And it was broken because it was only a thin piece of plastic that flexed back and forth. Later the 80's Camaro's center consoles had a metal hinge that allowed the center glove box/console to open & close. I was glad to see they fixed that! But here we have the same old issue. haha fun fun..

Wouldn't want to take apart the console, might take weeks. Fixed mine with Super Glue months ago, still working fine.

^^^I find that hard to believe. ONLY because I tried an adhesive that got hard and ripped again in a different area, tried one that stayed flexible and it ripped again too.

I actually think that it goes bad from being in one position for too long and then moving it around. I actually try and open and close mine a few times a week to ensure it stays soft. I also do A303 on it.

x 2.
I used Superglue, and a strip of packing tape underneath J-I-C.

Mine has held up since July -- see https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-problems-fixes-114/broken-cup-holder-cover-732296/.

Longevity is a concern as well-- rockstar is probably right about degradation over time. I added the packing tape on the underside of the cover in hopes that it would minimize pressure on each segment when sliding the cover.

Mine retracted all the way back inside console except for handle. I am going in for routine maintenance tomorrow I am getting a quote on that and the hanging roof liner. I love siy but maybe they give me some type of warranty on their work.

Thrillm, u can pop the light out of the center console and kinda slide it back up with a finger... I actually just ordered mine it will be at the shop tomorrow $40delivered to a friends chop from Coral Springs auto mall. Wish everyone's broke at Tate same time so I could've saved everyone a few bux.

Bz, did u say u put 5% on ur windshield??? That's a bit nutty. I have 30 and it's hard to see with 2-3 all around (ceramic varies +-1%)
