Creaking Noise

Hey all i did a quick search and didnt see anything besides rattles. My car seems to creak when i hit bumps or go over rough ground. I know you are thinking that it is just a rattle but my car rattles like hell which I am used to but this is a different noise though out the whole car.
Some bitchy neighbor cracked my windshield and after i had it replaced the creaking got worse it seems. I have asked the dealer and they dont seem to know. The whole freaking car sounds like it is "loose" or something.
The first time i noticed the noise was when i pulled my car off an incline back to the road. There is a small gutter on the side of the road and my car was flexed alot (half on the flat road and half on the incline then one tire in the gutter so it was on all different levels compressing one corner at a time) and made the creaking noise but it sounded like suspension. The dealer says the suspension is fine and it just had its 30k service but when i have people in the back they say it feels like i have rims or cut the springs (bouncy). It also feels unstable on the road especially on ramps when i hit little bumps or the transitions from asfault to concrete. Any ideas?

Creaks

I quieted my TL considerably by applying Aerospace 303 protectant to all of the rubber door and sunroof gaskets/seals. It proved especially effective on the sunroof which creaked when backing-out of my driveway.

Good luck.

Just a word about the windshield. The TL windshield must be glued in, which is what helps keep the frame and body rigid. Is it possible they just used a silicon sealant to keep the water out, and maybe didn't use an actual adhesive?

That may be what it is Ron A. I will have to ask the dealer to look at it because it seems like the whole car is no longer tight. Like the windshield weakened the whole car

As long as my car is in motion I hear a constant creaking noise from the back deck. The dealer won't do jack about it, they said it was my radar detector on my windshield (total bullcrap). I took the whole back seat out and removed the rear deck and reassembled everything and used some felt tape on suspicious spots and it still creaks like a mutha. I'm about to crash it into a tree it's driving me so nuts!!!

Hitec, I have the EXACT SAME PROBLEM with my new TL-S. It creaks whenever I go over a bump with one side of the car or if I go up a drive way at an angle (basically it seems to be caused by torsion). It sounds like plastic creaking, and it makes the ride sound "cheap". I went to the dealer, took two of their mechanics for a ride, and replicated the sound about 7 times, but they said they didn't hear anything. So I told them to go to hell and I left. It sounds like it is coming from behind the back seat or near the rear window.

I have that creaking noise all the time. It comes from the window frame on all the doors. It is the rubber rubbing against the window. If you press the plastic frame on door around the window, you can replicate the sound.

For me I think it's something else. Sounds like the plastic parts built into the rear seat rubbing against each other when the frame twists slightly.

Sounds like my situation was well. Mine was not the rear seat because I took the rear seat bottom and back out of the car and drove around with a day with no back seats and I still heard the noise. I had my wife press on the rear deck and it stops. I've taken the the rear deck out and used felt tape everywhere and I still have the noise.

In reference to the door seals... I have heard those noises as well. I treat my door seals with vinylex every so often to keep them lubed real nice, and it seems to help with that noise as well. I also had my drivers side mirror sqeaking like crazy, and I sprayed in where it attaches to the car with silicone spray lube, and that took care of that noise.

This back deck is driving me nuts. I guess I'll just turn the radio up louder?

Yeah maybe you're right about the back deck. It could be that. Maybe loose space where the speakers are installed? I don't know. Either way, the guys at the dealership didn't want to deal with it.

I'm 99% sure mine is the rear deck. I've taken the whole fricken thing apart, just not sure how to stop it because all the felt tape I used didn't help.

Did you ever solve this? I have a rattle issue with my rear deck lid that sounds like yours. The dealership supposedly did the service bulletin for it, but it didn't work for me. It seems to be a fast vibrating sound that could involve the window and rear deck lid. It's driving me nuts!

It seems like it starting doing this after I had the dealer install my aspec suspension too. Maybe they didn't reinstall the rear deck correctly?

From what i've concluded so far from my creaking noise in the car is that it is coming from all the side door windows. It seems that when the windows are all the way up, shut tight, it creaks when the car is going over bumps or turning. But when i put the window down a tiny tiny bit, by tapping the button a little but not opening the window so that air comes in, the creaking noise goes away complelety. I've try putting protectant on the window gasket and it only helps a little and the creaking noise comes back after a couple days. Any suggestions?

I got rid of the window seal noises by applying Honda silicon spray... it lasts a few weeks then I have to do it again... 5 min every 2-4 weeks for silence.

Creaking Noise Bulletin

My car has the creaking noise at the B-pillers above both front doors. A Bulletin just came out #07-006 ref to it. It adds some padding or Garnishes to the inside of the Pillar. I am having this done on Tuesday. I will let you know how it turns out.

My wife had an brand new '06 Civic SI that had the noises you guys are describing. I told the dealer that it sounded like the rear window was making it. Well, they didn't believe me and took apart the whole interior looking for it and finally decided to take the rear window out. And guess, what? It was the rear window. Evidently Honda did not insulate/seal the rear window correctly so that some metal was actually hitting the glass back there and making it creak/squeak over bumps or whenever the frame was twisted. Hope this helps....

Good catch on the TSB

All others, you should be calling Acura at 1-800-382-2238 x 5
6a-5p pacific time and documenting the problem in your car file
That will help later when a fix is found

Wow i totally forgot about this thread. Yes I have an 05 TL and the creaking is getting worse. I keep meaning to ask the dealer to check the suspension because i feel that would cause a noise like this. The rattles are getting really bad too I had a 97 CL with almost 300k on it and no where near the noise of this car, i dont understand

Chris, how did it turn out?
This has to be of interest to every 3G owner as it seems everyone has this problem.

I've fixed this problem by myself now. I spray loads of protectant into the window seals and the noise is completely gone now. Though I am not sure how long it will last.

But now i have another creaking noise that i couldnt hear before because of the windows creaking. My rear deck is creaking like everyone elses . I'm going to take out the rear seats and retighten the cross bars and the rear struts to see if it will make a difference.

Creaking Noise Bulletin

I had the Bulletin completed and it did not stop the noise. They replaced the molding that seperates the front and rear doors. The noise is coming just behind pull strap of the window weather or not the window is closed. So it's back again to the dealer. I pointed out exactly wear the noise is coming from and they confirmed hearing the noise. This will be the 4th time it will be going in for the same problem.

WOW, that TSB covers 07 TLs as well, odd that it took them over 3 years to come up with this one, my 04 and 06 both had these probelms, and my 07 (need to check VIN) has some of them. They really have no clue how to handle quieting the cabin.
