Crank pulley replacement
My car broke down yesterday on middle of the road. It's raining season now in southern california (I'm sure everyone's pissed about it )and it was pouring down harshly. The roads were flooded everywhere but driveable condition. I was running about 20mph, and all of sudden the steering wheel got locked and battery indication light came on after I ran over a flooded dip. I was freaked out because I thought maybe the flood damaged my engine, and if it did.... obviously it becomes a big problem. I pulled over at a gas station to check it out what was wrong.......engine was running normally....no smokes or smells.....my pulse went back to normal and everything seemed fine. Steering wheel was still locked so was battery indicator, I thought it's just the battery died dued to the cold rain. My car completely died after 20~30minutes. Today I bought a new battery at autoshop. I didn't wanna take it to dealer 'cause first of all.....I have to call roadside assistance to tow my car, and second too much mumbo jumbo waiting BS at Acura dealer. Well, the new battery didn't solve the problem after all So I called emergency roadside service. I waited nearly 2 hours in my car and they finally came to tow it. Acura dealer says later on that crank pulley got jacked up and needs replacement. Does anyone who have same problem?

The battery has nothing to do with the power steering, I have no idea why you would think it did...
When the alt/battery light comes on and you loose power steering, its a SURE sign of a belt problem in most cars.
Many times, if a belt gets real wet, it will slip on the high load stuff till it dries out.
My Jaguar had the alternator very low, and in big pudles, the belt would slip on it and the volt meter would go down, the power steering pump was driven my the cam chain (of all things).
