Hi, I've been trying to diagnose the crank but won't start issue on my 2008 TL -S for a couple of weeks. I kept hearing a crackling sound over by the inside driver's side fuse box, but today I found out where the sound is originating. See attached video.
There's 2 relays underneath that cover, one for DRL's (if equipped) and one fan control relay. Sounds like one of them is constantly clicking on/off, probably killing your battery.
Which is unrelated to your CEL's pertaining to 02 and cat converter.
So I've replaced the battery and the starter relay. I've ordered the crankshaft position sensor. Husband said it was too much for him to do, so I took it to a mechanic.
Mechanic tested everything and said the throttle body and sensors were testing low voltage, everything else seemed okay. He replaced the throttle body ($1.400) and it did not resolve the problem. He never did replace the crankshaft position sensor because it tested fine.
Now the mechanic is telling me I need to take it to an Acura dealer because he thinks the issue is the computer for the throttle body, and he said he can't do it because they don't have the equipment to program it.
I'd like to know if anyone has any thoughts on this? I hate dealers and really do not want to take it to one.
The funny thing is when I had the car towed there, it started for the mechanic for the first 2 days, then it went back to just cranking but not turning over. So the problem is intermittent.
(Note: Since the throttle body did not resolve the issue, the mechanic did not charge me for it or the labor involved to replace it)

Thank you! I just read the reviews for the dealers in my area and they absolutely SUCK! Has anyone here even ever heard of a throttle body computer? I searched multiple ways and haven't found anything referencing it. Also, does anyone know if a dealer must do the replacement or could another mechanic possibly do it? Help, I'm desperate!
