Cracked my navi

Was going to get my skiis edged and waxed for this season, so I had my skiis in a hard case in the ski compartment, and came to a hard stop in traffic today. The case flew forward and cracked my navi screen

There's a star pattern there now, and the touch screen no longer works. Everything else still functions normally though...

So what are my options here and estimated costs? Appt with the dealer monday morning...

Sorry to hear. You aren't alone, though: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=170107

Looks like both of you might consider making comprehensive insurance claims.

thats why the ski pass through should come with some kind of restraint system, like an interior cargo net or something.

2100??? omfg

yeah looks like this might be a comprehensive unless I can come up with a DAMN GOOD sob story where this could be a warranty issue lol. A SLIGHT possible silver lining would be if I can at least upgrade to the 2007 navi

fuk my deductible is 1k I think, if it IS a comprehensive, can I lump issues together? i.e. I have a minor dent (somebody door dinged me) and some chips in my rear bumper (that look suspiciously like they were from license plate screws) I'd like to get worked out on the same claim...

You might want to try finding one used from a junk/salvage yard. There must be lots of totaled TL's at this point and the screens don't go bad often. I think it's human error that does them in most.

The condition and price might make it a non-consideration though. The junk yards here on Long Island like to get about 1/2 of the what the part costs new from my past experiance with them.

the carputer guys can stick one hell of a pc in there for that price... consider that instead... pretty sure the touch screen they use is under 400 and pc parts won't total more than 1k

ps. shoulda got a snowboard, nah j/p good luck though for real

HAHAHA! I jinxed you!

The other day I loaded a couple 2x2s that were 8' long into my TL... Normally I take my wife's van for this, but figured what the heck so long as I'm careful, why not.

As I get into the car, sure enough the ends are about 1-1 1/2ft away from the console and they move around a bit because they won't lay flat (front to back)... Instead they kinda rock on the door a little bit and move real easily as a result, so I decide to support them with my right arm while I drive.

As I'm pulling out it occurred to me that sudden braking could 1. smash the navi 2. smash the head unit.

Then I think... Wonder if this has happened to anyone on AZ?

39051-SEP-A44ZB is the part number, it costs 1154.58 if it's a 2006
39051-SEP-A43ZA is the part number, it costs 2472.11 if it's a 2005
39051-SEP-A41ZA is the part number, it costs 1631.60 if it's a 2004

not really sure what the difference between the models are, but from what i know they all will work in any 04-06 TL. there is no way they are gonna upgrade you to an 07-08 system, since you'll need more than just the screen.

your best bet is to find one on ebay. not only is the dealer going to charge you list price which is not what i posted, they will also rip you on labor

I disagree.

Even if you purchased a cheaper unit someway, you are going to be raped for labor and no coverage!! So $1000 TOTAL (ins claim), and brand new unit covered by warranty, beats spending more on a unit that will NOT be covered by warranty if something goes wrong (ie junkyard or ebay unit).

Sheesh! You WDP guys are always fucking up!

^^^You don't get raped on labor if you DIY.

Lee - if you plan on keeping the car, now would be a good time to upgrade to a carputer...costs about the same as your $1k deductible.

To me a carputer is ok, if you are going to be in your car long enough to use it or even give a crap about it. I always looked at DVD players just for the front and carputers as overkill because when am I going to be in the vehicle long enough to get any use out of that? Not to mention when I am in my car, I'm driving! Plus, when the carputer acts up, as computers do...who is going to service it? Seems like a headache and if it's anything like what I saw one of these guys put in the car (before it was all hooked up) - I would stick with Navi by Acura and let it be their headache!

Sorry to hear about your screen leedogg. Your best bet is to get a junkyard part or ebay. Installation is easy. It's all plug and play. Taking the dash apart is not as hard as it looks.

I agree with darksom1 on a pc. Don't get one unless your ready to be able to service it if needed. Mine has been in since april with no problems but I do take it out to run updates and upgrades

Think I'll need to investigate a junkyard or 2. Btw, I went to one of the sponsor links on the site (for once lol) and found it for $1063:

http://www.oemacuraparts.com/partloc...&siteid=214055

There might be a guy I trust who can help me with the install.

Not unless you can prove they happened at the same time. The damages have to coincide with one another. Due to the randomness of the things you want to include it won't happen. Although the chips on the rear bumper may work just not the door ding.

That stinks I would say try to find a salvage TL and get a Navi out of it because TLs dont have issues with navi really so I think getting a used one would be fine.

Comprehensive
$0 Deductible per occurrence
$92.56 (per 6 months)

I figured 1 windshield would make this worthwhile, but 1 nav screen would make this very worthwhile... The increase in cost was 20ish bux from the $500 range.

well, I figured I wouldnt really want to file a claim with my insurance and risk getting my rate jacked up unless it was approaching the thousand range anyway.
