The dash itself is $652 on acuraoemparts, with a $870 list price.

I'd say thats not a bad offer, given the factory warranty doesn't cover the dashboard at all.

I paid $300 when the dealer here goodwilled mine, I probably would've done it at that price too, maybe you can get them to go a little lower?

The total repair bill I think is like $2k if you were paying for it yourself at the stealership.

After some time to think about their offer I agree with you. Fortunately without me even asking for a further discount Acura Client Relations has got it down to $412.50 + tax. I'm happy with that, going to get the dash replaced this week.

How is it even possible to get a crack in the dash?

I just got a new crack in my dash and this is driving me crazy. No disrespect to anyone who has a dash mat, but I just can't seem to like that thing sitting on my dash. Granted you can see the cracks but the look of the mat, to me, is almost as bad. The best dash cover I've seen is the one by Coverlay, but the fabricator in me is yearning to do something different. I've searched and searched and can't seem to find anyone that has done this.

Has anyone seen a dash that has been vinyl wrapped? Is this even possible w/ the texture of the dashboard?

I'm sure you could, it wouldn't look very good and I don't think the vinyl would adhere very well. Vinyl typically needs a smooth surface to adhere to and it will show the cracks very clearly right through the vinyl.

If you even have moderate scratches in the surface you're wrapping they'll show right through vinyl once its laid.

Just buy a 2004-2005 TL. That's all you need to do, the cracks will magically appear.

I have a 2006 with 80,000 miles. Second owner, Acura is replacing the dash for $700 out of pocket. Not the best deal in the world, but at least they are willing to help out. I think I'll take the deal as looking at the cracked dash for years would drive me crazy!

The cold is making it worse. The horizontal one was tiny a little while ago. Not anymore.

This one started out being half an inch. Not anymore.

This one literally must have just popped up overnight

Fuck it.

It's off my radar for now. If I trade it down the road it will probably for another Acura and they can deal with it.

It's sad that a "luxury" vehicle can look like this after 7 years. Mine is garage kept, daily driver but I use a sunscreen in FL in the summer time. 110K miles, i'll just have to ignore it for now.

I just contacted my dealer about it and he asked if I was the original owner of the vehicle. I said no. He responded that they wouldn't be able to do much for me in the way of "Good Will" and that there's still no recall on the issue.

It doesn't matter if you were the original owner. The people at Acura don't want to fix it, plain and simple. They know it is an Acura defect but always try to make excuses like you shouldn't put armor all protectant on it or the weather can do it or other excuses. Fuck them. Over and out.

I've pretty much decided to move on to greener pastures. I never did follow up with my rep and decided to stick it out until its traded. The whole ordeal of Acura pretending this problem doesn't exist has me "so over" the brand.

My strategy would be to go look at a new TL and ask them if the dash will crack. When they say "no" you then ask to have your dash fixed.

Mine has cracks in literally the same exact locations. 04 with 85,000 miles. I believe the previous owner lived near some woods, and the car was always outside in the sun.

Crazy how mine is cracked in the same exact spots.

Good news for you! Safety devices such as seat belts/air bags are covered by lifetime warranty under federal laws as long as your car was not crashed previously. Have an acura dealer exam and fix it for you. If dash cracking is related to airbag functionality, they have to fix it too without you paying. Make sure there's no modifications you made in your car or else remove them first.

So just go to the dealer n tell them my dash cracked this weekend n then my airbag popped up? I don't have no mods done inside except for a system..

theres a reason why this tread is 31 pages long and continues. if you have an 04 model and live in the south it is probably cracked by now or it will crack. I had the car in PA and moved to Texas. 1st summer here it cracked. Sun shades or tints will not stop it sorry. sell the car or just deal with it.

Sorry i dropped the ball. Looked up again the seat belt system is covered by lifetime warranty, air bags are not. However, when my seat belt sensor malfunctioned, the airbag dash indicator came on. They seem to share the same indicator. I brought it in acura dealer, they said was driver buckle socket sensor not working and replaced for me free of charge.

When I saw your photos of the cracks in your dash at first.... I thought you broke into my 05 TL, took pics, and threw them up on the thread. They look IDENTICAL to mine. I'll try to take some pics soon and upload them. It blows my mind how there was never a recall issued for this problem. Oh yea.. it cost a stupid amount of money to fix it and Acura's be'n cheap.

as bad as the cracks are there will never bee a NHTSA recall for cracked dashboards.

At the most maybe a TSB, of which there is none.

realistically not gonna happen. 04-06 TLs are getting old and the problems are dying down. the average TL moms out there are not going online to campaign for a recall. up to this point the problem is only cosmetic. if there are a few unintended airbag deployments caused by the cracks, then we are talking.

Judging by that pic, I hate the space for the airbag.
