Coverlay is a nice dash cover but I don't think it complies to the passenger airbag. caveat emptor.

WOW i'm keeping my fingers crossed this dont happen to me.
I'm running a 2004 TL tinted windows at 600 miles and never used anything other than damp micro fiber towel on the dash, i have also used glass cleaner with micro fiber,

I contacted Coverlay regarding the air bag and this was their response:

"This dash cover has an airbag insert that you adhere to the main dash. This insert does not impede in any way the deployment of the air bag."

My 04 TL Dash Cracked about 2 years ago! Took it into the dealership at John Eagle in Houston and they said because I have kept up with my services they will replace it for about 200$.... I have this weird imprint on the driver side, I gave up with them! They said it was normal!

I'm in Orlando also and my '06 just developed a crack last week. SInce my husband passed in January I have been taking the TL to a local car wash place and I think they may have put something on the dash, added with the FL heat when parked at work since she is garge kept. I'm will to pay, just want a good job done. SHe has 103K miles and a 15 month old clutch. Seems like since I lost my husband this car is testing me on a trade in for a 2012 SH-AWD. lol

Sorry to hear about your loss. My TL has recently become the daily driver and the cracked dash is an eye sore on an otherwise mint vehicle. It's a 2004 with 49k garaged kept and no accidents. The local dealer came back with $480. Not good enough, so i escalated the issue. I should know by the end of the week if they come down. I know for a FACT that if they don't lower their price, I will NEVER purchase another Honda product again. Acura is the premium brand and owners shouldn't be bothered with issues like the cracked dash. I'll let you know how it goes.

Unless it's perforated for separation and glued to the airbag trap, I'd be wary.

Mines an 04, the previous owner kept it in the garage for its entire life, I bought it with only 34K on it, I have 60 on it now and only in the past year the cracks appeared, now they go from the windshield all the way to the other side. I guess thats just what happens when you dont have a garage. Im not gonna replace it until I have a permanent garage

^Bought my 05 with 27k miles on it (just turned 50k milkes). Never garaged, and no cracks until this year. It happened back in February, which was the first night below 20 degrees and I also just finished installing my audio 2 days prior.

I don't know if it was the freezing weather or the subwoofer flexing my dash that caused the crack I just finished installing Velcro on my new Sedona suede dashmat dash topper and I will say that I was surprised at how it turned out. Not bad at all. Im happy with my fix.

Too bad we didn't have a garage sooner...We are actually moving now into our new home with a garage.

My replacement dash already has the outline of the airbag in the heat...and I've been vigilant with the insulated window cover and cracked windows to allow heat out.

If it cracks again, I'm doing dash cover again like a mofo.

Maj...they have a seam built in from underneath around where passenger airbag would deploy, although I haven't seen it in action so I can't confirm that it doesn't impede.

Just ordered the Coverlay ABS dash cover. I had the dashmat, but it just looked cheap to me, so I took it off. My dash now has even more cracking, so I'm just going to go for it. I think that I'm going to wrap it in leather, however. I'll update when it arrives.

Please do, I'd be curious to see the other options!

If mine cracks again I'm just going to use a blade and slice all over it and say my jealous ex gf did it...beats the hell out of the truth.

Update with a Fixed Dash!

Here is an update with some Good News! Last week, I took my car into my local Acura Dealership, Crown Acura of Clearwater, Florida. I needed to get an oil change and transmission flush. I also needed to show my service advisor, John Shaw, the dash and see what they could do. I prepared a polite letter and some documentation of others having a similar problem when the car is out of warranty along with the corresponding resolutions. I have 60K miles and my TL-S is out of warranty. He looked at it and said he would try and get "some" good will towards fixing it. I explained to him that I expect them to replace the dash at no cost to me. He said they have replaced many of them and although they could get some good will they have never covered one in full. I responded that this would be the first one.

My family and I have had 11 Acuras of which 10 were purchased new from this dealership. I have also sent this dealership countless new clients who have purchased new cars. I have researched this problem extensively. I felt I had a lot of leverage in this situation. John assured me he would do his best. I received a call a few hours later saying he spoke with the manager and they are going to cover it 99%. He explained that this was so that they would be able to give me a 1 year warranty covering parts and labor. My bill came out to $17.51! I had the dash replaced this week. I am thankful to John at Crown Acura for going the extra mile and making this process as painless as possible. I hope this information somehow helps others get a resolution with this issue.

The Coverlay dash cover arrived, and I'm quite surprised with the quality. Here's a picture of it just laying on my dash, without using any of the silicone provided.

Looks good, but just a quick question- do you use the silicone around the openings for the airbag and the center speaker of the dash, so that it's more flattened in those areas (so that it doesn't appear that you have a Coverlay)? It looks like it has a different texture than the OEM dash (not that it's a bad thing).

Yep, I'll update when I actually install it, which should be later on today. I'll put silicone around every edge so they stay down. Also, there's an airbag piece that's not in the picture that covers the airbag slot.

My crack is right where that airbag cut out is... I hate it when my crack is so exposed like that.

Dealer will cover the dash. You will need to contact the manager of that dealership (Do not take no for an answer). The manager will contact Acura Headquarters for an approval to repair the dash. Repairs typically take around 2-3 Days. After your receive you car, double check that all lights in the navigation are functioning, the cup holder isn't broken and the radio is fully functional. My dash was severely cracked and after contacting the Honda Headquarters, I was referred to my local Manager and with an approval, they covered 70% of the repair as well as replaced all my center console lights and broken cup holder. The new dash uses a different material than was previously used thus lowering the possibility of it cracking again (according to them). Here is the number to contact. 800-three eight two-two two three eight.
Good luck.

I agree with everything other than it being a different material. I wish it was true but it's doubtful they went BACK into the manufacturing process to refine it 3 years after the car was even produced any more. Mine looks/feels like the same material, although I have yet to smell or taste it so I can't be sure.

Does anyone know how much a cracked dash affects the resale value?

It would likely effect it badly although it depends on who is buying the car. Dealership will give you least amount anyway and will replace it at cost to put on their lot...if private party, some just looking for reliable daily driver might not mind, an enthusiast looking for a clean car to start modding might not want it.

2004 TL, 121K miles.

My dash started cracking two weeks ago, along the outline of the airbag. Reported it to the dealer and they replaced the dash. My cost was $125.00

And yes, I've used many types of Meguiar's products on it over the years.

I have an 04 TL with 77K miles; (original owner). Cracks started around 8 months ago and its pretty bad now. I have been in contact with Acura Client Relations District Manager and have an appointment at Fountain Acura in Orlando tomorrow. I don't regularly service my vehicle at the dealer an have owned 1 Honda in the past.

I'm hoping for at least 80% good will on this repair. I'll post the offer as soon as I have it.

Acura Client Services has offered to cover all but $578. I know I will recover this much in resale value but I feel I shouldn't be paying to correct a design flaw.
