Code P2228
Code P2228
I have this code right now and I don’t know what else to check.
I’ve replaced my map sensor with a new OEM one and the code came back.
Plug is getting 5 volts
No cracked hoses/lines
Air filter not clogged
New spark plugs
New oxygen sensors
New oem purge valve
Cleaned EGR valve
Code keeps coming back. When I scan the computer after driving for awhile, everything is ready except the EVAP. It takes awhile for evap to become ready. When EVAP becomes ready, it throws the code P2228 for the map sensor. Only thing I haven’t replaced is the canister. Bolts holding the canister are rusted to hell so I didn’t bother.
Any ideas? Thanks

P2228 is for Baro sensor, not the map sensor.
That sensor is inside the PCM (engine computer) and only advice that service manual has is that this sensor should read about 53 kPa (15.6 in.Hg, 397 mmHg), or 1.58 V. Otherwise suspect bad ecm.
I've never meet with this code so I don't have any advice for you except to find used ecm (and get it programmed).
Well one advice is that if PCM in our cars is under the hvac system, and if drain for ac gets clogged, water might be dripping on the PCM causing all sorts of problems. Did you use ac recently? Are driver or passenger carpets wet?

Ah ok. Ive been reading stuff and everyone was saying to change the map sensor. How come when I look up barometric pressure sensor, it gives me the map sensor? Going to try another ECU if I can find one.
And no, I was not using AC. This happened around last week of October so weather was cool already. Carpet was dry. Haven’t driven the car in months. Don’t want to cause any serious damage.
I would reset the CEL. Everything becomes ready except EVAP. Why is it that once EVAP becomes ready, this code pops up?
Thanks!
