There are a lot of things that can cause misfires. How many miles are on the car? What parts have you bought (brand and where). Did the coils or plugs look coated in oil? Did the plug smell fuel or look wet?

csmeance asked some really good questions. Another simple one to check is to swap the coils with a working one (i.e. switch cylinder 4 and 5 coil pack). This will help you figure out if it is the coil pack (even a new oe one can be bad) or if it is truly cylinder 5.

I was looking for my issue and found this posting. I also had a misfire on #5. I swapped the coils and code still said misfire on 5. Yes I did clear the codes and I did it a few times to make sure. So the plug was looking good and even swapped that. But still same issue. So now Im thinking it could be fuel injector. Problem is im "thinking". I dont have proof which is sad. I hate doing a long job just on whats next it could be. I dont have a choice do I. I will since I get it apart change 4, 5 & 6 injector since the car have 180000 miles on it. Couldnt hurt to change at least 3 right? Am i wasting money if I do more then the one that reads misfire? What really sucked was it was running pretty good. Was at the market, went to leave started it up and ran like a motor boat. WTF couldnt even wait till I was home?

Wires all looked good. I could not find anything else. Just checking.

it could be a bad connector on your coil harness for #5 or a lot of other things. New parts are always good in theory but better to diagnose first properly. How many miles on the car? Oil level good? Do you use regular or premium gas?

230,000 miles

87 & high octane sometimes.

Plugs done maybe 6 months ago.

I know its not good to throw money at it. To investigate and get the right fix. But I can only do so much. I can clean my way down. Throttle body and EGR i can get clean. Check EGR paths and rats. My valve covers are not leaking so Im not going to take them off (check for broken rocker). Just not going to do it. Replace the #5 injector and get it back together. Cross my fingers it works. If not then I have a good excuse to get it to a shop. I will have wife giving me crap for what its going to cost but thats how it goes. At least I will make a best effort to do what I can. I read lots the other day and have not really found another test or reason for the misfire. Did I say too much?

Hopefully it wont be as bad as when I had to fix the trunk opening. The broken wire was way inside and beneath panels that I think were not intended to ever remove. But I found the dam wire and break my back and getting in there to fix it. Its right where the wires move when you open and close the trunk.

If I get the misfire working the next thing will be the top display that goes out all the time until I smack it. It would be nice to see if the air is on the time up there.

Coils not coated in oil. Plugs smelled like ass not gas. Like I said I did swap the coils and no difference. I know the coils got juice since I ran a check for power on it. Acura buried the injectors unfortunately to do it easy. I saw my steering column with a small leak. Im going to put a sticker over it so I dont see it lololol.

So I took it apart today to get it ready for the parts I ordered coming in tomorrow. They came in today while I had it apart. Anyway, wasnt that bad to take it apart along with a video I found online. Pretty much no issues taking my time until I got to the injectors. The row of 3 injectors was stuck in there pretty good. I couldnt find my 45 pliers so I was stuck unless I went to the store. I checked online for more vids on ideas. Ok so i saw someone use a claw hammer and use that to pry it off. I thought about it and used a crowbar. I kept it close to the injectors and popped one off at a time. Worked pretty good since I went slow and knew I was screwed if I messed it up. Off it came and replaced my parts. Put it all back together and wooohoooo super nice.
