Clutch Pedal clicking sound?

Hi,

I have an 04 with a 6MT. I notice every now and then when I push the clutch out the pedal linkage will make a click before it hits the stop, It doesn't do it for every press, just every now and then. It seems like if i come in at a bit of an angle it will be more frequent than if I press it head on. I tried to look at it but I can't really see if it is the plunger into the master cylindar or the hinge..

Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Thanks,

Jeff

Yea,. just drown it with WD 40 where the pedal connects up into your firewall area...Problem solved.

The plunger or the hinge?

Hey zootjeff,

I had the same issue with mine. The pedal would make a relatively loud click and I could actually feel the click through the pedal. It took the dealer three tries to get it fixed. They lubed it up real good the first time. Didn't fix it. The second time they thought it was the clutch master cylinder, so they replaced that. Didn't fix it. The third time they replaced the entire clutch pedal assembly. This fixed it.
There is also a switch on the clutch pedal assembly for the cruise control. Somtimes this switch will make a very faint click when you push the pedal down. Make sure this is not what your hearing. If it is, then it is a normal sound. But if it is louder than you think a switch out to be, then I would take it in and let the dealer look at it.
Good luck with it and let us know how it works out.
Love your city, by the way. Great race track!!!!!

clutch pedel click

I found my pedel switch was making a clicking noise so I sprayed white lithium grease into the switch plunger and on the pad and I don`t even notice it anymore!

Yes, it is not the cruise switch. It is a loud click that I feel through the pedal. If it wasn't for the tactile feedback I probably wouldn't have noticed it. It doesn't happen all the time, it's like there is a hinge that is lopsided or something.

Was it covered under warranty?

Ok I pulled off the cover and looked at the clutch assembly I pushed the clutch and tried to see where the click was coming from. I can't tell if it is the joint where the plunger joins the lever arm or up higher. It is really hard to figure out what causes the click.. Could it be the upper switch (the starter cutout switch) that is causing the click?

My guess it's either:

1. The Plunger Assembly with Pedal pin, Yoke, and lock pin.
2. The main hinge joint
3. The springs attached to the clutch pedal arm.
4. The Engine cutoff switch.

I don't really see any other moving parts. The click doesn't happen till it's all the way pushed in.

This problem sounds exactly like mine. The pedal was almost to the floor when I heard/felt it. And I also could push the pedal down at kind of angle and it might not do it. What was weird is that it wouldn't do it every time. And I know this sounds crazy, but it seemed to do it when the temperature was around 50-60 degrees. It was louder and I could feel it much more when I was raising the pedal. It almost felt as if it was hanging up. I crawled under the dash and looked at it after they replaced the assembly and they also lubed up the spring with what looks like white lithium grease. And I mean a LOT of it. So I suspect it may be the return spring that was part of the problem. I am talking about the spring that is coiled around the hinge point. In any case, they replaced the entire assembly and it seems to have cured it. It's been about a year or so. And yes, it was under warranty.
Hope this helps and let us know how it all works out. Good luck.

Has anyone had any luck with this? I havn't had the time to take it to Acura. If it is easy to fix, I'd rather do it myself..

I had the same problem. Annoying to say the least. The dealer lubed it up and it didn't do any good. Sprayed hinge w/wd40 a month ago and squeak/creak has not returned. Makes shifting enjoyable again...
