Clunk noises when wheel is turned and reversing slow
Hey everyone-
My TL is a 6MT and drives perfectly, except for this little annoyance that started to become more noticeable over the past few months. The clunk noise is reproducible and only occurs when backing out of a driveway or parking lot with the wheel 75% turned or more. It's like there is a sticking point at a certain interval, and the TL "clunks" over the spot. It happens once every wheel rotation. When I throw it into 1st and drive away, no issues (even when turning sharply while going forward). It only has 62k miles on it.
After searching, must of the "clunk" noises are from AT owners talking about reverse to 1st. This is a bit different with the "once per wheel rotation and reversing. Thoughts?

i hear a clunk noise when my wheel is turned the same amount and when i punch it in drive. i never checked for anything when reversing but thats because i usually don't turn that much when i'm reversing but ill try it out today. it might be the same clunk noise. the noise actually started recently i only have 70k on mine
Seems to be something more frequent around here. Mine happens at cold starts, back out driveway and when I turn going left "clunk." However, it only does it once and that's it. I can turn left or right, go over bumps, etc and no clunk noise. Drives great with no vibrations or steering issue. I inspect all the bushings, cv joints, tie rods, and any other suspensions part and everything seems to be in working order. It only occurs on the driver side. I lube the fastline bushings thinking that maybe that is the source, but I will see.
^ I thought about that too but I just replace them about 1 year ago. Then agian, new one could be defective. Weird, if I turn the steering wheel before I drive off it wont do it. It only occurs when I start to drive. Tomorrow will be a good day so Im get to work on that.

I have literally the exact same issue on my 05, clunking/creaking noise when reversing/turning slow.
I had the mechanic check it out when I had my oil change a couple days ago. He said my outer tie rods are worn.
So either im going to diy, or have my mechanic do it. He gave me an estimate of 300 which is overpriced...
I called an acura dealer (canada) he said each outer tie rod goes for 50$. There are plenty of diy videos on youtube, its pretty simple with the right tools.

I asked my mechanic about the tie rod ends and whatnot. He said that unless it really becomes bothersome (which it hasn't), then just live with it until the symptoms are more consistent. He also mentioned the LSD plus the sharp reverse turn could be the issue, but again since it's mild, just live with it unless it becomes more problematic.
So, in short I haven't had anything other than the usual clunk after the TL has sat for a while...

There is a thread about spindle nuts causing a clunk. Might be worth finding the thread and seeing whether others had the clunk just once when reversing, or once per wheel revolution. Mine does it just once (I think, am always late or not paying attention to chassis noise when reversing, lol) and will replace them at the next oil change.
