Climate Control Issues

So my 05 TL is blk/blk and sits outside during the weekends because I don't have a garage in my complex. It's gets to be rediculously hot inside the car here in FL after it's been sitting in the sun a few hours. While I'm trying to cool the car off with the a/c, I've noticed the passenger side vents blow much warmer than the drivers side. Prolly a good 10 degrees or so. The difference is immediately noticeable in the center vents. Naturally Acura says everythign works 100% and they both blow 44 degree air, but they tested it in the shade early in the morning.

Luckily when i picked up the car it was sitting out and I was able to show the master tech that worked on my car. He's going to order a new air mixture regulator/motor/whatever because he suspects it might be sticking.

Anyone else have this problem? Anyone have any idea what it might be? (it's not in dual mode)

ASSUMING you have GPS.....

The climate control is designed to do this!
If you read your manual, it works with the GPS system and with the clock to figure out where in relation to your car the sun is. So it is going to pump additional air conditioning towards the hotter side of the car. If you were to park facing the opposite direction, it would do the opposite with the vents.

Ive hear that an undercharged a/c will cause the drivers vents to be warmer by 20 degree's than the passengers side, but yours is the other way around!

Thanks, but this happens whenever it's blazing and any direction I'm facing. Plus, it's always the passenger side that's much warmer. The temp variance is only really prominent when it's really, really hot inside the car. It almost feels like the pass side is blowing warm air.

According to Acura, the A/C is fully charged and 100% operational so it's not the refrigerant level. I still haven't heard back from them about the air mixer.

I'm having this same problem and the dealer can't figure it out. Did you ever get a resolution to your A/C issue? Please let me know if you see this posting.

Thanks very much!

Assuming you're not using the DUAL mode, suspect a malfunctioning damper. Try switching between different settings for your vents and see if that frees things up.

according to acura's latest service bulletin for checking this stuff, it should be 34 degrees on max.

Mine does the same thing. regardless of the temperature I set in and whether its set to dual mode or both to the same temp the drivers side blows out cool and the passenger side blows warm/hot. I know there's a little bubble sensor on the dash that adjusts the mix based on the sun (so that it blows cooler on the side that the sun is beating on) maybe that sensor is causing the malfunction?

The 34 degrees should be at a given temperature/humidity index. It sure isn't going to blow 34 degrees when its 108 degrees in Phoenix.

Not trying to hijack but a similar issue happened to me today; After driving for a few minutes, I notice the air is not as cold as it was or should be. My friend next to me says he had the same issue in his 4runner, where the outside temperature was being misread cause the climate control go crazy..
Sure enough, I look at the temp and it reads “---“ …. Then as soon as it registers back to 91/92 the AC works fine…..
Is my temp sensor going bad? I searched and I know it’s in front of bumper but this NEVER happened until my windshield was replaced this morning…………. Think that might have anything to do with it?

If your outside temp display is flatlining, disconnect your negative battery cable for a few moments then reconnect it (can also remove and reinsert fuse #7 or #21 - not sure which). A flatline display will drain your battery when your car is not in use.

It went back to normal for most of the ride home from work. I just read your post and removed the negative battery connection and the temperature worked.

If the problem persists, should I replace the temperature sensor behind the bumper?

Funny thing is, this never happened before until I got my windshield replaced this morning....

My Wife's car is having a similar issue so if someone comes up with a reason as to why I would love to hear it.

Solution - a stuck damper

The problem was eventually traced to a damper in the vent system that functions to isolate the passenger airflow from the driver while in Dual mode. My damper was stuck in the position that only allowed cool air flow to the passenger side. Once replaced, proper air flow was restored to both sides of the system.

I am having similar issue where cold air is flowing from driver side but warm air from passenger side. I suspect either air mix motor or stuck damper. Any idea how much would it cost to get either of these replaced.
