Climate Control Issue - temp difference between dirver and passenger vents

Hi All,

My 2004 TL with only 50K miles is blowing not so cold air from passenger side vents while driver side vents blow icy cold. It is not in dual mode and I have tried manual modes and all other settings but the temp difference between two sides is very obvious.

I had service adviser at dealership look at it and he agreed there is something wrong with it but could not have diagnosed until saturday as they were all booked.

Any ideas on what the problem could be before I hand out $$$s to dealership.

try having someone man the controls in dual mode. remove the cover under the glove box and watch the motor that controls the air outlet flap. As you mess with it you should be able to watch it in action

Don't the TLs w/ nav have a sun sensing feature that based on your GPS location will adjust the climate on whatever side of the car the sun is hitting?

OP, do you have nav?

Fixed!

It has navi but would do that in all directions and times.
This didn't look like motor issue because if I set driver side to maximum heat and passenger side to maximum cold then passenger side would throw cold air but if I set both to cold ( in non-dual mode) then only driver side would throw cold air as if there wasn't enough pressure for both sides.

Anyways, I took it to the dealer and they found leaking valves on both lo and hi pressure lines. They first replaced valves and recharged freon but still lines wouldn't hold pressure so they replaced pipes and now it is working perfect

Little surprised though as didn't expect this at only 50k miles.

Glad it's fixed.

While it's only 50k miles, it's ~7+ years. Some things get old and break just by the passage of time.

I agree. I think I should put more miles on it to match it age so that wouldn't feel bad when more things break
