Hoping for some advice on repairing a climate control issue:
- Car does not get cool enough; Cold air from proper vents, but not enough to cool cabin
- Checked refrigerant level- it's good
- Ran diagnostics: DTC indicator shows "K" : Problem in driver's air mix control linkage
- I replaced drivers air mix motor; problem continues
- Sensor Input diagnostic shows that sensor 6 (Driver's Air Mix Opening) never moves off 60%. Passenger side works fine and percentages change in accordance with temperature
- Service manual says if indicator "K" continues after replacement of air mix motor, then replace climate control unit (service manual scan below)
- I cannot find any indication on Acura parts website of this unit.
Do you agree that climate control unit should be my next move? If so, does anyone have a part number?
I'm getting the same code, I just put a new reman compressor in, I've had bad luck with a/c let's leave it there unless more info is needed.. my compressor had been running it held a vaccum and I even charged it with a 12 oz can of freon... It wasnt getti g cold and I was trying to figure out why and I turn the defroster on to see what that would do and got back out and I was looking at the compressor and watched it turn off and just wouldn't come back on and I can't figure out why but I have got codes I and K when doing diagnostic test... Car is 06 6MT TL btw...
Climate Control Unit is part # 79610-SEP-A45. It is located behind the glove compartment and is very easy to replace. Remove the glove box, surrounding trim, and panel underneath glove box. You'll see the climate control unit on the left side as you're facing the glove box opening.
Here's what it looks like:
A brand new one retails for about $300 from Acura and usual parts suppliers. I found a used one on Ebay for a fraction of that and so far it works fine.
I ran the AC diagnostic (turn ignition to second click, Press OFF on AC control panel, while holding button, press recirculate button 5 times) and received no errors after installing the replacement unit.
Hope this helps @Blakep93 and others down the road.
