Schizophrenic climate control, '07 TL base
i notice this happens now and then:
with the climate control on "auto" with the AC presumably "on" and set to some temperature other than "Lo", the air stops, it sounds like it gets redirected to the windshield vents, and then i don't get any cool air. either i stop getting any air, or i start getting hot air, even though the AC should be on (i hear the motor) and it's set to something reasonable like 21C (70F).
if i decrease the temperature to "Lo" the cold air comes up immediately, so it doesn't seem like there's a 'problem' with the AC. but if i increase the temperature even by one level (to 19C) it forgets what to do and i get no air or hot air.
this only happens occasionally, and if i fiddle around with the settings for a bit, the climate control starts working normally again (i.e. 19C will work like 19C, 20C will work like 20C).
anyone have this happen to them, or know of a fix? is there a temperature sensor that might be malfunctioning or out of calibration or something like that? it's like the computer is getting confused about the temperature, but the actual AC system works
thanks

a) Air mix control motor or blend door
b) water control valve

I think there are several threads involving 3G TL climate control problems due to recalcitrant air mix controls and water valves.
Your TL's climate control symptoms are less extreme than those mentioned in the other threads.
G/L.
