Say I have the temp set to 72 and drive for sometime, after the engine warms up hot air starts coming out of the vent (much warmer than what 72 used to blow before). Lowering the dial does not do much. The only way to stop this is to reduce the temp dial to 60, when the AC kicks in and then increasing to 70-72 and still feel cold air coming in. Until I turn quite a bit higher, I don't feel any warm air anymore. Took it a while ago to the mechanic and he said everything checked out fine. But this happens all the time now. Anyone else with this problem and any pointers? Thanks!

Well, the TL is set up with a thermostat, which means it runs a lot like a home ac system...you set it higher and the fan motor will keep running but cut the condensing unit until the temp you're desiring is "x" number of degrees away...
my mother's crv has this system too and it took her a long time to understand what I was saying. She was so used to the older ac systems in honda that basically just blow cold air out at all times super strong at your face. If you notice, in the tl/rl ETC...the ambient temperature in the car gets comfy instead of just your face.

I have had this car for more than 2 yrs now, so I know how the climate control works. What is happening now is not normal. Would appreciate help in the matter.

Has the interior climate control sensor been possibly disconnected?
I've noticed your other electrical issues as well. Have you been doing any sort of modifications underneath the dash?

Did I come across condescendingly? Should I have assumed to know what you do or don't know about how the ac system works? Originally Posted by 9000revs

You're welcome. Have a great day and good luck with your problem(s).

It would be nice if there were a way to get it to display what it thinks the current temp reading is--that would tell you a lot.

^^^That is true. Like a home ac tstat...it shows you what it's at and if you press the temp buttons it'll display what you want it at.
Nope not been doing any mods under the dash.

I would take it to another shop, or maybe one that specializes in ac. One says it's all good and checks out but if you have had the car for 2 years and know there is a change that took place, I'd take it somewhere where they know what to look for.

Keep us posted, bud...that's how this site stays so rich and full of info. Thank you.
ha ha ... the car seems to know it is going for service, the SRS light is back on!

SRS light was reset using the procedure found here and other Acura forums. Seemed to work but came back after the passenger belt was buckled. I need to do the reset again to confirm. As far as the climate control problem, have not had time to take it in, but a friend/mechanic I know mentioned that for this model, it may be the control unit under the dash!

The control unit is in the dash, and it is not cheep. There are a number of tests for the unit in the service manual. This is a repair that might actually be cheeper at the dealer because they might be willing to repair the unit while another shop might want to just swap out the entire unit.
Did the climate control diagnostics from the owners manual and see this:
ON - Air mix control motor - Open or short circuit, obstructed door, faulty motor.
What would that indicate?
Thanks.
