CHECK FUEL CAP..../sadface

hey AZ

well i have done some research online. and i am getting the wonderful message to check my fuel cap.

just randomly showing up as i drive home from work yesterday.

so i unlock the gas cap.. then tighten it up again 3 clicks.. still the message, im at 1/2 tank gas, will be filling it up this weekend, but after reading, others experiencing this said that the message does go away eventually, but i am just curious as to how long should i wait before i take it to the dealership? i mean if it doesnt go away in 1 week? does that mean its now a problem or a sensor issue or an actual ISSUE?

or can i take it in this weekend and have them look at it?

some people have said its climate change? and the pressure or something is off?

any other suggestions? i have read most .pdf documentation regarding the issue and they seem to just say wait till the car does another test and if its ok, it will shut off

i just want to know if anyone could give me a better timeline so im not puffing gas fumes in my car for like a year before i go take it in

thnx

Make sure it's on good.. then when you turn on your car.. press & hold the select & reset button and it should go away.

If it returns again.. just keep driving for a week or so and whenever you fill up make sure you do the 3-4 clicks. It will eventually go away.. if not.. take it in.. I couldn't find a TSB otherwise.

When I first bought my TLS in 07 I had the same problem I took my car to the dealership numerous times. I had the manufacturer take the vehicle back. Take it to the dealership as many times as you need to. Contact Acura and get them to assign a regional Mechanic and have them start the process of getting that lemon off your hands. Trust me it does not go away.

This is a known issue and the Acura technical dept (can't think of the proper name) should know which parts need replacing. I haven't had any more trouble since Radley Acura fixed mine. I posted the parts needed last weekend.

you have an 07-TLS and you're out of warranty? ouch.. I'd still take it in and see if they'll goodwill it.

I just started getting the same message. Stupid thing popped on twice. Pulled over shut the car off the first time and removed and re-tightend, started the car up after a couple of minutes and bam the thing pops on again. Thought it was just me. I am taking mine in this week to get fixed also have a hissing sound coming from the Passenger side engine bay I want looked at. Sounds like a vaccum leak or something.
